The article mainly aims to try and create a new concept for developing logistics and supply chains in the era of Industry 4.0. Analyses of development trends in logistics and production management were used to create the new logistics and supply chain concept. Conclusions were used from the analyses of how the modern concepts of Industry 4.0, Logistics 4.0, Supply Chain 4.0, and 5.0 work. Analyses of the benefits of applying modern management concepts in these areas were carried out and criticised because of their inadequacies, which became apparent during the recent crises in the world. Although the sources of the crises were different, they could be eliminated by reconfiguring logistics systems and supply chains. The results aim to answer three questions: (1) Has the time come to change the current way of looking at logistics and supply chains? (2) What could Supply Chain 4.0 look like using Industry 4.0 tools? (3) How should Supply Chain 4.0 address the logistics and supply chain challenges? The presented answers do not exhaust the topic but rather open up a discussion on logistics and supply chains of the future. The presented concept allows for a completely new global and local view of logistics chains. The structure of the presented model can be subjected to scenario analysis using agent-based simulation modelling due to the structure’s emergent nature. The new approach can significantly benefit the development of local production centres and global supply networks. The benefits mainly come from reducing the environmental impact of manufacturing and logistics processes from the moment the new product idea is conceived.
W obliczu rosnącej presji ekologicznej i zmian w globalnych łańcuchach dostaw, przedsiębiorstwa muszą dostosować swoje strategie logistyczne, aby zminimalizować wpływ na środowisko i jednocześnie zachować konkurencyjność.
Monografia Total Logistic Management.
Design for excellence (DfX) comprises a broad family of product design methodologies aimed at addressing the often-competing requirements of multiple stakeholders throughout the product life cycle. Among the most pressing contemporary challenges in DfX is integrating environmental considerations into product design systematically and comprehensively. The circular economy (CE) is implemented through various R strategies (e.g., 3R: reduce, reuse, recycle), providing a normative framework intended to guide pro-environmental design decisions and life cycle thinking. This study conducts a systematic literature review focused on product development and its alignment with DfX methods in the context of circular economy practices (CEPs) to identify prevailing research trends and structural gaps in this area. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses of the literature are performed and interpreted through the lens of the circular economy butterfly diagram proposed by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. The results reveal a pronounced asymmetry in the distribution of CE practices within product design research. Recycling and remanufacturing dominate the literature despite being positioned in the CE framework as less desirable than resource-preserving strategies such as reuse, repair, and life extension. This imbalance suggests that current research and design practices remain largely anchored in end-of-life (EoL) and resource-intensive solutions rather than prioritizing strategies that slow material and product flows. These findings highlight a critical need to intensify research on product circularity at the design stage, with greater emphasis on life-extension-oriented strategies and their integration within DfX methodologies and practices. The study provides a structured foundation for future research on circular product design and contributes to ongoing discussions on aligning design practice more closely with the fundamental principles of the circular economy.

Progressing globalisation, competitiveness and implemented technological innovations constitute important challenges for enterprises operating in such a turbulent environment. Organisations are forced to adapt much faster and more flexibly to rapidly changing market conditions. Manufacturing companies realise that it is impossible to meet market requirements by constantly using conventional methods of operation, especially in the sphere of physical flows of goods, information and financial resources, for which logistics is responsible. One of the solutions that can support manufacturing companies is e-logistics, which enriches logistics phases and processes in the sphere of information technology (IT) and information and communication technologies (ICT). The aim of the study is to identify the conditions and possibilities of using e-logistics in Polish manufacturing enterprises.
