A good planting bed is a prerequisite for improving planting quality, while complex ground excitation often leads to machine bouncing and operation vibration, which then affects the operation effect. In order to improve the quality of rotary tillage operations, it is necessary to study the effects of various vibration excitations on the unit during tractor rotary tillage operations and analyze the vibration interaction relationship among the tractor, the three-point suspension mechanism, and the rotary tiller. For this purpose, multiple three-way acceleration sensors were installed at different positions on the rotary tiller unit of a Lexing LS1004 tractor(Lexing Agricultural Equipment Co. Ltd., Qingdao, China) to collect vibration data at different operating speeds and conduct vibration characteristic analysis between different components. The test results showed that when the unit moved forward at 2.1 km/h, 3.6 km/h, and 4.5 km/h, respectively, the vibration acceleration of the tractor, the three-point suspension mechanism, and the rotary tiller increased with the increase in speed, and there was indeed interaction between them. The vertical acceleration change during the test in the three-point suspension mechanism was the most significant (5.914 m/s2) and was related to the increase in the speed of the vehicle and the vibration transfer of the rotary tiller. Meanwhile, the vertical vibration acceleration of the tractor’s symmetrical structure was not similar, suggesting the existence of structural assembly problems. From the perspective of frequency domain analysis, the resonant frequency at the cab of the tractor was reduced in a vertical vibration environment, with relatively low frequencies (0~80 Hz) and small magnitudes, which might be beneficial to the driver’s health. The rotary tillage group resonated around 350 Hz, and this characteristic can be used to appropriately increase the vibration of the rotary tiller to reduce resistance. The tractor cab resonated around 280 Hz, which must be avoided during field operations to ensure driver health and reduce machine wear. The research results can provide a reference for reducing vibration and resistance during tractor rotary tillage operations, as well as optimizing and improving the structure of rotary tillers and tractors.

Weeds significantly impact crop yields and quality, necessitating strict control. Effective weed identification is essential to precision weeding in the field. Existing detection methods struggle with the inconsistent size scales of weed targets and the issue of small targets, making it difficult to achieve efficient detection, and they are unable to satisfy both the speed and accuracy requirements for detection at the same time. Therefore, this study, focusing on three common types of weeds in the field—Amaranthus retroflexus, Eleusine indica, and Chenopodium—proposes the HAD-YOLO model. With the purpose of improving the model’s capacity to extract features and making it more lightweight, this algorithm employs the HGNetV2 as its backbone network. The Scale Sequence Feature Fusion Module (SSFF) and Triple Feature Encoding Module (TFE) from the ASF-YOLO are introduced to improve the model’s capacity to extract features across various scales, and on this basis, to improve the model’s capacity to detect small targets, a P2 feature layer is included. Finally, a target detection head with an attention mechanism, Dynamic head (Dyhead), is utilized to improve the detection head’s capacity for representation. Experimental results show that on the dataset collected in the greenhouse, the mAP for weed detection is 94.2%; using this as the pre-trained weight, on the dataset collected in the field environment, the mAP for weed detection is 96.2%, and the detection FPS is 30.6. Overall, the HAD-YOLO model has effectively addressed the requirements for accurate weed identification, offering both theoretical and technical backing for automatic weed control. Future efforts will involve collecting more weed data from various agricultural field scenarios to validate and enhance the generalization capabilities of the HAD-YOLO model.

Aiming at solving the problems of inaccurate tillage depth detection and unstable tillage depth control, this study proposes a tillage depth detection and control method based on attitude estimation and online calibration of model parameters. First, a tillage depth detection model based on the attitude measurement of the plow is established. The attitude estimation method is designed to measure the horizontal attitude of the plow. An adaptive Kalman filter is utilized to perform an online calibration of the model parameters between the rotation angle of the lifting arm and the pitch angle of the plow. The dynamic and accurate detection of tillage depth is achieved using the tillage depth detection model. Second, a tillage depth control device using an STM32 microcontroller is developed in this study. The PID controller controls the tractor’s suspension system to adjust the plow through the solenoid valve, thus achieving stable control of the tillage depth. Finally, the experimental results obtained from simulation and field tests show that the tillage depth can be stably controlled within the set target interval during the tractor plowing operation, proving the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed tillage depth detection and control method.

Crop lodging is an important cause of direct economic losses and secondary disease transmission in agricultural production. Most existing methods for segmenting wheat lodging areas use a large-volume network, which poses great difficulties for annotation and crop monitoring in real time. Therefore, an ultra-lightweight model, Lodging-U2NetP (L-U2NetP), based on a novel annotation strategy which crops the images before annotating them (Crop-annotation), was proposed and applied to RGB images of wheat captured with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at a height of 30 m during the maturity stage. In the L-U2NetP, the Dual Cross-Attention (DCA) module was firstly introduced into each small U-structure effectively to address semantic gaps. Then, Crisscross Attention (CCA) was used to replace several bulky modules for a stronger feature extraction ability. Finally, the model was compared with several classic networks. The results showed that the L-U2NetP yielded an accuracy, F1 score, and IoU (Intersection over Union) for segmenting of 95.45%, 93.11%, 89.15% and 89.72%, 79.95%, 70.24% on the simple and difficult sub-sets of the dataset (CA set) obtained using the Crop-annotation strategy, respectively. Additionally, the L-U2NetP also demonstrated strong robustness in the real-time detection simulations and the dataset (AC set) obtained using the mainstream annotation strategy, which annotates images before cropping (Annotation-crop). The results indicated that L-U2NetP could effectively extract wheat lodging and the Crop-annotation strategy provided a reliable performance which is comparable with that of the mainstream one.

Repeated and missed spraying are common problems during the working of boom sprayers, especially in the breakpoint continuous process. Therefore, the present study investigated a breakpoint continuous spraying system for automatic-guidance boom sprayers based on a hysteresis compensation algorithm for spraying. An operational breakpoint identification algorithm, which combines a real-time kinematic global navigation satellite system (RTK-GNSS) and wheel odometer, was proposed; a pre-adjusted proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control algorithm for the opening degree of the proportional control valve was designed in thus study. Tests were conducted to establish equations correlating the opening degree of the proportional control valve, pump output flow rate, and main pipeline flow rate, with an R2 ≥ 0.9525. The time to adjust to the target flow rate was experimentally tested. The breakpoint identification accuracy of the RTK-GNSS and RTK-GNSS + wheel odometer was experimentally assessed. A field spraying deposition variation experiment was conducted. According to the results, the system effectively eliminated missed spraying, with a maximum repeated spraying distance of ≤3.3 m, and it achieved a flow control error within 3%. This system also reduced the repeated spraying area and enhanced the pesticide spraying quality of breakpoint continuous spraying for automatic-guidance boom sprayers.
