Water pollution is a serious concern for developing and undeveloped countries. Photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants is an effective degradation method to restrain the green ecosystem. This research article presents a green, low-cost, and benevolent eco-friendly biosynthesis of cobalt oxide (Co3O4) nanoparticles using Curcuma longa plant extract. The UV and visible region absorbance of Co3O4 nanoparticles estimated the Co2+ and Co3+ transitions on the lattice oxygen, and their bandgap of 2.2 eV was confirmed from the UV-DRS spectroscopy. The cubic structure and spherical shape of Co3O4 nanoparticles were estimated by using XRD and TEM characterizations. Plant molecules aggregation and their agglomerations on the nanoparticles were established from FTIR and EDX spectroscopy. Multiple cobalt valences on the oxygen surfaces and their reaction, bonding, and binding energies were analyzed from XPS measurements. The biogenic Co3O4 nanoparticles were executed against gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus—S. aureus) and gram-negative (Escherichia coli—E. coli) bacteria. A gram-positive bacterial strain exhibited great resistivity on Co3O4 nanoparticles. Degradation of organic dye pollutants on the Co3O4 nanoparticles was performed against methylene blue (MB) dye under the conditions of visible light irradiation. Dye degradation efficiency pseudo-first-order kinetics on the pseudo-first-order kinetics denotes the rate of degradation over the MB dye. This research work achieved enhanced degradation potency against toxic organic dye and their radicals are excited from visible light irradiations. Absorption light and charged particle recombinations are reformed and provoked by the plant extract bio-molecules. In this process, there is no inferior yield development, and electrons are robustly stimulated. Furthermore, the biosynthesized Co3O4 nanoparticles determined the potency of bacterial susceptibility and catalytic efficacy over the industrial dye pollutants.

The thermal management of cylindrical battery packs, widely used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems, is a critical aspect of ensuring their safety, performance, and longevity. As energy densities increase, effective cooling solutions become essential to address the challenges posed by excessive heat generation and uneven temperature distribution. This review has highlighted the promising potential of hybrid nanofluids and phase change materials (PCMs) in advancing thermal management systems for battery packs. Hybrid nanofluids, offering enhanced heat transfer properties, and PCMs, capable of storing and dissipating latent heat, represent a promising synergy for improving thermal management systems. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the role of hybrid nanofluids and PCM in addressing the thermal challenges of cylindrical battery packs. The paper discusses heat generation mechanisms, the drawbacks of existing cooling methods, and the advantages of integrating these advanced materials into thermal management systems. By identifying research gaps and opportunities, this review offers a pathway for optimizing battery performance and highlights future research directions necessary for scalable and sustainable solutions. According to this review, future research should concentrate on creating hybrid cooling systems that effectively combine active, passive, and hybrid cooling techniques. Additional advancements in computer modeling, nanotechnology, and material science will be crucial to achieving the full potential of these innovative materials and overcoming existing limitations.

In the field of lighter substitute materials, sandwich plate models of composite and hybrid foam cores are used in this study. Three core structures: composite core structure and then the core is replaced by a structure of a closed and open repeating cellular pattern manufactured with 3D printing technology. It finally integrated both into one hybrid open-cell core filled with foam and employed the same device (WBW-100E) to conduct the three-point bending experiment. The test was conducted based on the international standard (ASTM-C 393-00) to perform the three-point bending investigation on the sandwich structure. Flexural test finding, with the hybrid polyurethane/polytropic acid (PUR/PLA) core, the ultimate bending load is increased by 127.7% compared to the open-cell structure core. In addition, the maximum deflection increased by 163.3%. The simulation results of three-point bending indicate that employing a hybrid combination of PUR-PLA led to an increase of 382.3%, and for PUR–TPU by 111.8%; however, the highest value recorded with PUR/PLA, which has the slightest stress error among the tests. Also, it is reported that when the volume fraction of reinforced aluminum particles is increased, the overall deformation becomes more sufficient, and the test accuracy improves; for example, rising from 0.5% to 3%, the midspan deflection of composite (foam-Al) is increased by 40.34%. There were noticeable improvements in mechanical properties in the 2.5% composite foam-Al.

Rotating machines have many applications, in several mechanical systems. They typically contain a rotary shaft as an influence conversion unit, that is subject to multiple loads in operation. One of the most widely-used rotary machines is the pump, and pump shafts are exposed to many forces due to fluids, unbalancing due to slight bending in the shaft or errors of design or bearings, bearings-induced forces, etc. These forces can reach an unacceptable level once the rotor is functioning close to its natural frequencies. Excessive vibration levels within the device cause fatigue and thus tiny cracks may grow to a serious extent and ultimately cause failure. In this study, dynamic analysis of the pump shaft was made, with and without cracking. Fundamental bending natural frequencies and torsional natural frequencies, response shaft, the equivalent stresses and total deformations in each dynamic and static cases were evaluated. The dynamic load factor (DLF) was calculated in the presence of cracks of various depths (4mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm) set at diverse locations (x=80mm, x=166mm, x=210mm) measured from the point of overhanging. The finite element method by ANSYS package was used to conduct the numerical analysis for this study, and a specific experimental test rig was built to verify the experimental results. Results showed that increasing depth of the cracks will lead to reducing in the natural frequency and, as a result, increase instability in the shaft. When the location of the crack is close to the highest bend point in the shaft, the natural frequencies will increase. In addition, the equivalent stress depends on cracking location and it is increased with increased depth of cracking.

Estimating the amount of solar radiation is very important in evaluating the amount of energy that can be received from the sun for the construction of solar power plants. Using machine learning tools to estimate solar energy can be a helpful method. With a high number of sunny days, Iraq has a high potential for using solar energy. This study used the Wavelet Artificial Neural Network (WANN), Wavelet Support Vector Machine (WSVM), and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) techniques to estimate solar energy at Wasit and Dhi Qar stations in Iraq. RMSE, EMA, R2, and IA criteria were used to evaluate the performance of the techniques and compare the results with the actual measured value. The results showed that the WANN and WSVM methods had similar results in solar energy modeling. However, the results of the WANN technique were slightly better than the WSVM technique. In Wasit and Dhi Qar stations, the value of R2 for the WANN and WSVM methods was 0.89 and 0.86, respectively. The value of R2 in the WANN and WSVM methods in Wasit and Dhi Qar stations was 0.88 and 0.87, respectively. The ANFIS technique also obtained acceptable results. However, compared to the other two techniques, the ANFIS results were lower, and the R2 value was 0.84 and 0.83 in Wasit and Dhi Qar stations, respectively.
