Supersonic flow over a half-angle wedge (θ = 15°) with an upstream Mach number of 2.0 was investigated using 2D Euler equations where sea level conditions were considered. The investigation employed the Steger–Warming flux vector splitting (FVS) method executed in MATLAB 9.13.0 (R2022b) software. The study involved a meticulous comparison between theoretical calculations and numerical results. Particularly, the research emphasized the angle of oblique shock and downstream flow properties. A substantial iteration count of 2000 iteratively refined the outcomes, underscoring the role of advanced computational resources. Validation and comparative assessment were conducted to elucidate the superiority of the Steger–Warming flux vector splitting (FVS) scheme over existing methodologies. This research serves as a link between theoretical rigor and practical applications in high-speed aerospace design, enhancing the efficiency of aircraft components.

Recently, solar thermal energy has been considered the main type of renewable energy used widely to provide heat energy and produce electrical power. Evacuated tube solar collectors (ETSCs) are used in various weather circumstances such as clear, cloudy, windy, hot, and cold weather, and their efficient system supplies latent heat storage fluid with higher temperature and lower heat energy loss compared to the flat-plate solar collectors (FPSCs). This review paper is considered an investigation on adding nanofluid particles to the evacuated tube solar collector-PCM, indicating future evacuated tube solar collector designs and predicting the suitable high- or low-temperature PCM for various types of applications. Also, three main types of ETSCs, heat pipe, Thermosyphon, and U-pipe, with their applications are reviewed, and the factors that influence the collector performance and efficiency are discussed. Moreover, the properties that affect the selection of the PCM and the usage of various types, sizes, and volumetric concentrations of nanofluid as a working fluid for each ETSC are investigated with their enhancements for each type. Lastly, this paper provides future ideas for using additive nanofluid materials as a working fluid to improve the performance and efficiency of ETSCs.

This work presents a suggested analytical solution for a forced vibration of an aircraft sandwich plate with a honeycomb core under transient load. The differential equation of motion is first derived and then solved by using the separation of variables method. The plate’s transient response and maximum transient deflection are studied with various design parameters. First, the analytical results are figured out using the honeycomb structure’s mechanical properties, such as its density, Poisson’s ratio, modulus of elasticity, and modulus of rigidity. Next, the effect of the honeycomb structural properties on the transient response and the maximum transient deflection is determined. Then, the cell size, core height, and cell wall thickness are selected as the honeycomb structural parameters. The ANSYS 19.2 software package is utilized to perform the finite element simulation for the sandwich panel with the honeycomb core. This study conducted modal and transient response analyses to derive the numerical transient response and maximum transient deflection. The results demonstrate a strong concordance between the analytical and numerical results with a 95% conformity rate. Moreover, the results demonstrate an inverse relationship between the transient response and both the core height and cell wall thickness, while it is directly proportional to the cell size. This relationship is derived from the theoretical equations and further validated through numerical simulations, showing strong agreement between analytical and computational results.

In this research, the Lax, the Upwind, and the MacCormack finite difference methods are applied to the experimental solving of the one-dimensional (1D) unsteady Burger's Equation, a Hyperbolic Partial Differential Equation. These three numerical analysis-solving methods are implemented for accurate modeling of shock wave behavior high-speed flows that are necessary for aerospace engineering design. This research analysis proves that the MacCormack technique is the one that treats the differential equations with second-order accuracy. This method is quite preferred when it comes to numerical simulations because of its advanced level of accuracy. Although the Upwind and Lax methods are slightly less accurate, they show the development of shock waves that give visualizations to better understand the flow dynamics. Also, in this study, the impact of varying viscosity coefficients on fluid flow characteristics by using the lax (a numerical method for solving the viscous Burgers equation) is investigated. This identification of the phenomenon sheds light on the behavior of boundary layers, which, in turn, can be used to improve the design of high-speed vehicles and lead to a greater understanding of the area of fluid dynamics.
