Biocomposite materials are essential for environmental protection, as they have the ability of substituting synthetic plastic with natural materials. This work investigated how different plasticizers (Glycerol (G), Fructose (F), Sorbitol (S), and Urea (U)) affect the morphological, mechanical, thermal, and physical characteristics of films made of wheat starch at various concentrations (0%, 15%, 25%, and 35%). Plasticizers were added to improve the flexibility and homogeneity of the wheat starch-based bioplastic. Control film exhibited high tensile strength (38.7 MPa) with low elongation (1.9%). However, films plasticized with 35% sorbitol showed the highest elongation, which was 60.7% at break. At 35% of all plasticizers, fructose showed the highest tensile strength, with 7.6 MPa. The addition of different plasticizers shows improvement in water resistance; films plasticized with glycerol had the lowest water absorption at 35% fructose (187.4%) and also showed coherent surfaces. Glycerol, sorbitol, and urea films showed a higher mass loss compared to fructose films. Fructose showed the highest performance after the analysis of the results, with low water absorption, water content, and mass loss and with high mechanical performance at 35% of fructose. SEM images show that the addition of fructose and glycerol improves the surface homogenate, while sorbitol and urea have a less compact structure with large pores.

Biocomposite materials have a significant function in saving the environment by replacing artificial plastic materials with natural substances. They have been enrolled in many applications, such as housing, automotive engine components, aerospace and military products, electronic and circuit board components, and oil and gas equipment. Therefore, continuous studies have been employed to improve their mechanical, thermal, physical properties. In this research, we conduct a comprehensive review about corn fiber and corn starch-based biocomposite. The results gained from previous studies were compared and discussed. Firstly, the chemical, thermal, and mechanical properties of cornstarch-based composite were discussed. Then, the effects of various types of plasticizers on the flexibility of the cornstarch-based composite were addressed. The effects of chemical treatments on the properties of biocomposite using different cross-linking agents were discussed. The corn fiber surface treatment to enhance interfacial adhesion between natural fiber and polymeric matrix also were addressed. Finally, morphological characterization, crystallinity degree, and measurement of vapor permeability, degradation, and uptake of water were discussed. The mechanical, thermal, and water resistance properties of corn starch and fibers-based biopolymers show a significant improvement through plasticizing, chemical treatment, grafting, and cross-linker agent procedures, which expands their potential applications.

Convection heat transfer is widely used in many industrial heat and cooling systems. The heat convection can be enhanced passively by adding metal nanoparticles in the water that have been adequately consumed. Small solid metals or nanoparticles of metal oxides floating in the base liquid increase the efficiency of thermal transmission in the system. Commercial CFD code FLUENT is used to simulate water-based nanofluids and is considered to be a single-phase fluid. The effects of various parameters such as Nusselt number and friction factor are studied as a function of Reynolds number and particle volume fraction. The volume fraction of 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 percent of the Al2O3 nanoparticles was investigated, with Reynolds numbers between 6000 and 12,000. The numerical results show that nanofluids have a higher efficiency in convection heat than basic fluid and an improved thermal transfer efficiency with Reynolds numbers and volume concentrations.

Mesh type and quality play a significant role in the accuracy and stability of the numerical computation. A computational method for two-dimensional subsonic flow over NACA 0012 airfoil at angles of attack from 0o to 10o and operating Reynolds number of 6×106 is presented with structured and unstructured meshes. Steady-state governing equations of continuity and momentum conservation are solved and combined with k-v shear stress transport (SST-omega) turbulence model to obtain the flow. The effect of structured and unstructured mesh types on lift and drag coefficients are illustrated. Calculations are done for constant velocity and a range of angles of attack using Ansys Fluent CFD software. The results are validated through a comparison of the predictions and experimental measurements for the selected airfoil. The calculations showed that the structured mesh results are closer to experimental data for this airfoil and under studied operating conditions.

The optimal conditions of applied factors to reuse Aluminium AA6061 scraps are (450, 500, and 550) ⁰C preheating temperature, (1–15) % Boron Carbide (B4C), and Zirconium (ZrO2) hybrid reinforced particles at 120 min forging time via Hot Forging (HF) process. The response surface methodology (RSM) and machine learning (ML) were established for the optimisations and comparisons towards materials strength structure. The Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) strength and Microhardness (MH) were significantly increased by increasing the processed temperature and reinforced particles because of the material dispersion strengthening. The high melting point of particles caused impedance movements of aluminium ceramics dislocations which need higher plastic deformation force and hence increased the material's mechanical and physical properties. But, beyond Al/10 % B4C + 10 % ZrO2 the strength and hardness were decreased due to more particle agglomeration distribution. The optimisation tools of both RSM and ML show high agreement between the reported results of applied parameters towards the materials' strength characterisation. The microstructure analysis of Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) provides insights mapping behavioural characterisation supports related to strength and hardness properties. The distribution of different volumes of ceramic particle proportion was highlighted. The environmental impacts were also analysed by employing a life cycle assessment (LCA) to identify energy savings because of its fewer processing steps and produce excellent hybrid materials properties.

Bio-oil extracted from waste of different plant kernel was used as heat transfer fluid in evacuated tube solar collector. Thermal performance of the biofluids to the enhancement of the evacuated tube solar collector under varying weather conditions and experimental analysis was carried-out. Thermal analysis on the storage water tank temperature, outlet and inlet heat transfer fluid temperature, and heat gains by was studied. In addition, the biofluids thermophysical properties and degradation analysis was conducted and compared with conventional base-fluids. From the results the biofluids caused enhancement of heat gain in the collector receiver by 9.5%, 6.4% and 3.2% for moringa oleifera kernel oil (MOKO), date kernel oil (DKO) and palm kernel oil (PKO), respectively. The storage water tank temperature at night fall was 53, 49, 51 and 47oC, for the MOKO, DKO, PKO and water HTFs, respectively. The biofluids were thermal stable and with no degradation. The biofluids demonstrated potentials as heat transfer fluids in thermal applications but there are needs for more investigations on their enhancement with organically synthesized nano particles to preserve there no corrosive and toxicity nature, and experimental performance on heat exchangers after several heating cycles.
