Prof. Melanie L. Hart's research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of inflammation in degenerative and/or traumatic diseases such as in ischemia-reperfused or osteoarthritic tissues as well as in the treatment and prevention of inflammation in such tissues. She additionally investigates the differentiation and regeneration potential of human MSCs from various tissues into different cell types that could be used for tissue engineering. Prof. Hart is the head of the Musculoskeletal Inflammatory research group at G.E.R.N. Research Center for Tissue Replacement, Regeneration & Neogenesis, Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery, Medical Center–Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg, Faculty of Medicine in Freiburg, Germany.
