Professor Kwena Desmond Modibane is currently working at the University of Limpopo (UL) as an associate professor and coleader of the Nanotechnology Research Group (NanoRG@UL). His duties involve lecturing at second and third levels in the area of analytical and inorganic chemistry, and at honors level, he lectures on specialized topics on electrochemistry, advanced separation techniques, and spectroscopy. He is also a part-time lecturer (since 2013) at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in the MSc nanoscience program, where he teaches electrochemical energy, kinetics, and thermodynamics of hydrogen energy storage and conversion processes and photophysical chemistry. His research interests mainly focus on hydrogen technology metal hydride for hydrogen storage. nanotechnology metal speciation, polymer–metal–organic frameworks, photophysics, photochemistry, and electrochemistry. His scientific output includes 58 publications, corresponding to 924 citations (h-index 20) (Scopus, 26 December 2023).
