The present study focuses on the mechanical and viscoelastic characterization of 3D-printed PLA, fabricated in three different printing orientations (0°, 45°, and 90°) and four different nozzle temperatures (210, 220, 230, and 240 °C). By employing a combination of static and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) testing, as well as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis, this work aims to investigate the relationship between processing parameters and the resulting properties of PLA. DSC results showed that higher nozzle temperatures enhance the degree of crystallinity, which in turn affects the mechanical and viscoelastic behavior of PLA. Regardless of the nozzle temperature, the flexural strength decreased as the printing orientation degrees increased. However, it was found that the higher the nozzle temperature, the higher the flexural strength for the same orientation, and the smaller the strength deviations per specimen. DMA results indicated that as the printing orientation increased, glass transition temperature (Tg) values increased while storage modulus values decreased. At the same time, in both cases, by increasing nozzle temperature, an increase in Tg and a respective increase in storage modulus values is observed due to the increase in the degree of crystallinity.

Greece is divided into three earthquake hazard zones: Zone I, Zone II and Zone III. In the present research work, the same building in the three seismic zones in Greece was modeled, analyzed and dimensioned. Then, the construction cost of its structural body was estimated. The building modeling was performed in SAP2000 using frame elements. The analysis of the building was performed by dynamic spectral analysis methods using the design spectrum EC8. A five-story building with a standard rectangular floor plan per floor was used. The purpose of this research paper is to demonstrate whether the cost of construction of a load-bearing body of a reinforced concrete (R/C) building is influenced by the area of an earthquake hazard through a comparative analytical estimation of construction costs. It was determined if this impact is important and to what extent. Helpful conclusions were drawn in relation to the influence of seismicity on the construction cost of the load-bearing structure of R/C buildings. Furthermore, the probable environmental impact was examined.

The object of the present paper is to determine the minimum support requirements provided for the safe execution of trench excavation works for underground network receptacles. This term is used to define the open excavations, which are carried out for underground networks to be installed or constructed, and which are classified in terms of place of execution and soil categories. This paper focuses on the study of the free earth support method in excavations carried out in earthy soils and in places where the passage of the pipeline requires deep excavations of vertical front. In these cases, for reasons of safety of both the personnel and the equipment, it is necessary to support the vertical excavation fronts, even when the analyses indicate their stability. In this context, and to avoid the consequences, before the start of the excavation and at its limit, the formation of vertical support structures is required, which are commonly known as "retaining bulkheads". The basic criteria for selecting the type of the support system are soil characteristics, local conditions (surface load, groundwater table) and finally, the lifetime of the trench. Based on the above, the objective of the study is to investigate the temporary support of vertical fronts of depth trenches about 10 m, the excavation of which is carried out on earthy soil. The study is based on the implementation of the limit equilibrium method, which is applied according to the provisions—guidelines set out in Eurocode 7 (EN 1997). The study investigates the distribution of earth pressures in an anchored retaining structure of a deep excavation by extracting the main design parameters of similar systems. The goal of this work is to select the type of the support system depending on the soil properties (c, γ, φ and Ε) and local conditions, as a prerequisite for safe and rational design, while in the end of the project useful conclusions are drawn.
