In order to use the dynamic low-voltage fuel cell stack in a fuel cell vehicle with a constant high voltage (400 V) dc bus, a capacitor-clamped H-type boost dc-dc converter with a wide voltage gain is proposed in this paper. In the input-voltage side, a capacitor clamped H-type structure is adopted to reduce input current ripple, avoid narrow-pulse of pulsewidth modulation voltage waveforms, and decrease the conduction loss of power switches; while in the output-voltage side, a switched-capacitor structure is adopted to achieve high voltage gain and decrease the voltage stress of all power semiconductors and capacitors. The operating principle, characteristic, control strategy, parameters design, and comparison with other converters are analyzed, and a 400 W prototype is developed. As a result, the converter can transform low-voltage from 25 V to 70 V in to 400 V with a wide voltage-gain range, which maximum efficiency is 94.72%. The experimental results also validate the aforementioned characteristics of the proposed converter and the correctness of theoretical analysis. This converter is suitable to serve as power interface for fuel cell vehicles.

In this article, a novel bidirectional dc-dc converter (BDC) consisting of an active switched-inductor (A-SL) cell, a zero current ripple cell and an auxiliary capacitor cell is proposed for the battery energy storage system. The proposed BDC integrates with the advantages of high voltage conversion ratio, low power switch voltage stresses, zero ripple current on the low voltage side (LVS), and constant potential difference between the grounds of LVS and high voltage side. Thanks to the use of synchronous rectification technology, the efficiency of the proposed BDC is increased. The operating principles, the characteristics analysis and the parameter design of the proposed BDC are given. In addition, to show the merits of the proposed BDC, a comparison study involves the proposed converter and other BDCs is demonstrated. Finally, some experimental results obtained using a 1000 W prototype are presented to valid the effectiveness of the proposed BDC. 96.43% and 96.67% maximum conversion efficiencies can be achieved in the step-up and step-down modes, respectively.

This paper presents a transient power quality (PQ) disturbance classification approach based on a generalized S-transform and probabilistic neural network (PNN). Specifically, the width factor used in the generalized S-transform is feature oriented. Depending on the specific feature to be extracted from the S-transform amplitude matrix, a favorable value is determined for the width factor, with which the S-transform is performed and the corresponding feature is extracted. Four features obtained this way are used as the inputs of a PNN trained for performing the classification of 8 disturbance signals and one normal sinusoidal signal. The key work of this research includes studying the influence of the width factor on the S-transform results, investigating the impacts of the width factor on the distribution behavior of features selected for disturbance classification, determining the favorable value for the width factor by evaluating the classification accuracy of PNN. Simulation results tell that the proposed approach significantly enhances the separation of the disturbance signals, improves the accuracy and generalization ability of the PNN, and exhibits the robustness of the PNN against noises. The proposed algorithm also shows good performance in comparison with other reported studies.

Under the unbalanced condition of grid voltages, the second-order harmonic voltage ripple will appear on the DC bus of the three-phase PWM rectifier due to the existence of the negative sequence voltages. In addition, the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the grid currents will increase correspondingly. In this paper, the coupling mechanism between the DC bus voltage ripple and the grid harmonic currents is revealed. Based on the situation above, a grid harmonic current suppression method is proposed. Compared with existing methods, the proposed method has the advantages in the following three aspects. Firstly, the proposed method does not require either the extraction of positive/negative sequence or the positive/negative sequence current control, which can highly reduce the complexity of the system. Secondly, the grid current harmonics can be reduced by an improved proportional quasi resonant (IPQR) controller. Thirdly, the IPQR controller has little effect on the parameter design of the control system, which facilitates the control design. Finally, the experiments show the accuracy of the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed method.
