Garbage detection and disposal have become one of the major hassles in urban planning. Due to population influx in urban areas, the rate of garbage generation has increased exponentially along with garbage diversity. In this paper, we propose a hardware solution for garbage segregation at the base level based on deep learning architecture. The proposed deep-learning-based hardware solution SmartBin can segregate the garbage into biodegradable and non-biodegradable using Image classification through a Convolutional Neural Network System Architecture using a Real-time embedded system. Garbage detection via image classification aims for quick and efficient categorization of garbage present in the bin. However, this is an arduous task as garbage can be of any dimension, object, color, texture, unlike object detection of a particular entity where images of objects of that entity do share some similar characteristics and traits. The objective of this work is to compare the performance of various pre-trained Convolution Neural Network namely AlexNet, ResNet, VGG-16, and InceptionNet for garbage classification and test their working along with hardware components (PiCam, raspberry pi, infrared sensors, etc.) used for garbage detection in the bin. The InceptionNet Neural Network showed the best performance measure for the proposed model with an accuracy of 98.15% and a loss of 0.10 for the training set while it was 96.23% and 0.13 for the validation set.

Indian classical dance (ICD) classification is an interesting subject because of its complex body posture. It provides a stage to experiment with various computer vision and deep learning concepts. With a change in learning styles, automated teaching solutions have become inevitable in every field, from traditional to online platforms. Additionally, ICD forms an essential part of a rich cultural and intangible heritage, which at all costs must be modernized and preserved. In this paper, we have attempted an exhaustive classification of dance forms into eight categories. For classification, we have proposed a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) model using ResNet50, which outperforms various state-of-the-art approaches. Additionally, to our surprise, the proposed model also surpassed a few recently published works in terms of performance evaluation. The input to the proposed network is initially pre-processed using image thresholding and sampling. Next, a truncated DCNN based on ResNet50 is applied to the pre-processed samples. The proposed model gives an accuracy score of 0.911.

Various natural hazards can be detected by well trained sensors deployed at the target sites. This paper proposes a novel framework of a Tsunami detection system using wireless sensor nodes deployed in coastal areas around earth's magnetic poles. The proposed framework implements intelligent information retrieval technique to generate a Tsunami alert. This method makes use of proposed parameters that defines the underwater condition in terms of magnetic field, electric field, and wave gradient and heat energy. The proposed framework is further used to extract the intelligent information from above mentioned parameters and study the behavioural as well as physiological pattern changes in marine animals. The proposed method filters the messages, transformed by condition tagging which are further evaluated to generate Tsunami alert. The proposed framework is validated by the help of a case study to analyse the behavioural patterns observed in sea turtles when exposed to evident change in electro-magnetic field intensity.

Air pollution is a major concern nowadays that needs immediate action. Various acts have already been initiated by the government in controlling it. The harmful gases present in the air are Nitrogen dioxide, Sulphur dioxide, Ozone, and Carbon monoxide that is causing air pollution and are becoming the major cause of harmful diseases. It does not affect human beings only but the entire environment. According to World Health Organization, air pollution is killing seven million people around the world. Planting trees and avoiding using plastics is the possible solution to control air pollution. The air quality index is the measure through which we categorize the air pollution of various cities. In this paper, we will discuss the bagging and boosting method, the extra trees method of machine learning in predicting air quality index, and its comparison with Decision trees. The dataset is collected from the Open Weather Application Program Interface. In this, the prediction of the Air Quality Index is done based on previous data. Time i.e., hourly prediction and space series prediction are done on the dataset. After implementing each algorithm confusion matrix is obtained and from this precision and recall are calculated for each category of the Air quality index ranging from one to five with one being good and five being very unhealthy. It has been observed that Gradient Boosting achieves the highest accuracy with 98.89%.

The term heart-related disease is stated as the range of condition that impacts an individual heart negatively. In the current scenario, cardiovascular diseases are causing more deaths when compared with other ailments, it has been estimated that there are nearly 18 million deaths annually as per the recent report released by World Health Organization (WHO). It has been stated that unhealthy habits and other related aspects adopted by individuals are considered as the primary reasons for an increase in the risk of heart diseases. High cholesterol, eating more junk foods, hypertension, etc., created the issue related to heart diseases. Hence, addressing food quality and suggesting better eating habits enable individuals to enhance their living and support better health. The application of new technologies like machine learning, deep learning, and other models support doctors, nurses, and radiologists to predict heart disease effectively. Studies have stated that the various models are used mainly for the classification and forecasting of the diagnosis of heart-related diseases. The researchers have identified that critical algorithms like CART support the predictability of the disease by 93.3% whereas the conventional models possess vert less specificity. Furthermore, deep neural networks can be applied for analyzing and detecting heart failures effectively and supporting medical practitioners in making better and more critical clinical decisions making. The researchers focus on using a descriptive research study for performing the study; moreover, the researcher collates the data using the questionnaire method, which enables sourcing the critical information from the medical practitioners and supports in making critical data analysis effectively. The researchers also use secondary data modes for sourcing the information related to past studies on the related topic. The researchers use the frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation model analysis for performing the study, and the results are stated in detail in the respective sections.
