The reliability of gearboxes is extremely important for the normal operation of mechanical equipment. This paper proposes an optimized long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network fault diagnosis method. Additionally, a feature extraction method is employed, utilizing variational mode decomposition (VMD) and permutation entropy (PE). Firstly, the gear vibration signal is subjected to feature decomposition using VMD. Secondly, PE is calculated as a feature quantity output. Next, it is input into the improved LSTM fault diagnosis model, and the LSTM parameters are iteratively optimized using the chameleon search algorithm (CSA). Finally, the output of the fault diagnosis results is obtained. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the method exceeds 97.8%.

To solve the problems of low measurement efficiency and measurement accuracy error in the balance correction of the mill before delivery. The measurement method of measuring a single chip instead of the whole chip group is adopted. And based on that, an improved adaptive quantum genetic algorithm based on Bloch spherical coordinates is proposed. Three layers of quantum coding are used for the grinding group, the first layer adopts three-strand gene coding, the second and third layers adopt double-strand gene coding, and the adaptive step coefficient is introduced on this basis. The improved algorithm not only has the global search ability of a genetic algorithm but also has the coding ability of quantum bit, which can avoid the premature algorithm and improve the convergence performance of the algorithm. The results show that the proposed method enhances the correction accuracy compared with the traditional correction method. The residual unbalance is less than 0.005kg; Work efficiency increased by 92%. It can improve the calibration efficiency and accuracy of grinding disc installation balance measurement.

Remaining life prediction is an effective way to optimize maintenance strategy and improve service life for light-emitting diode driving power in rail vehicle carriage. In this article, a Wiener process–based remaining life prediction method is proposed with the analysis of performance degradation data of light-emitting diode driving power in rail vehicle carriage. First, the temperature and humidity stress accelerated degradation tests are put forward in order to measure the output current of light-emitting diode driving power. Based on the output current, the accelerated degradation model is established. The drift and diffusion coefficients of the Wiener process are then obtained without prior information. Finally, the reliability of light-emitting diode driving power in rail vehicle carriage is assessed and the remaining lifetime is predicted after updating the degradation model parameters with Bayesian inference. The results show that the proposed method can improve the precision of assessment and reduce the uncertainty of prediction significantly. It also provides a potential solution for life prediction of other similar products.

Circuits are considered an important part of railway vehicles, and circuit fault diagnosis in the railway vehicle is also a research hotspot. In view of the nonlinearity and diversity of track circuit components, as well as the diversity and similarity of fault phenomena, in this paper, a new fault diagnosis model for circuits based on the principal component analysis (PCA) and the belief rule base (BRB) is proposed, which overcomes the shortcomings of the circuit fault diagnosis method based on data, model, and knowledge. In the proposed model, to simplify the model and improve the accuracy, PCA is used to reduce the dimension of the key fault features, and varimax rotation is used to deduce the fault features. BRB is used to combine qualitative knowledge and quantitative data effectively, and evidential reasoning (ER) algorithm is used to carry out the inference of knowledge. The initial parameters of the model are optimized, and the optimal precondition attributes, rule weights, and belief degree parameters are obtained to improve the accuracy. Through the training and testing of the model, the experimental results show that the method can accurately diagnose the fault of the driver controller potentiometer in the railway vehicle. Compared with other methods, the model shows high accuracy.

Spare parts management is a critical aspect of high-speed train health management, playing a vital role in maximizing in-service time and minimizing maintenance costs. However, traditional spare parts management methods, which rely solely on historical experience and suggest spare parts quantities or ratios in equipment manuals, often lack practicality and fail to meet real-world demands. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a performance prediction-based spare parts management strategy for high-speed trains. The strategy comprises three main components. First, a performance degradation model is developed using performance evaluation results to define a performance degradation envelope. Next, the required quantity or ratio of spare parts for multiple devices in different performance states is determined using the expected performance score method. Finally, the timing of spare parts orders is scientifically optimized by accounting for production and transportation lead times. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, we conducted experiments using the spare parts management of a specific high-speed train running gear as a case study and compared it with existing spare parts management methods.
