I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Lecturer (Academic Level B) in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tasmania, specialising in the control and validation of inverter-dominated renewable power systems. My research began at the University of Malaya, where I developed sliding-mode and observer-based controllers. During my PhD at UNSW Canberra, I applied and extended these methods to power-quality improvement, robust synchronisation and converter control under weak and non-ideal grid conditions. My current CSIRO-funded research focuses on grid-forming/grid-following (GFM/GFL) interactions, black start, and power-system restoration.
My key achievements include:
• More than 50 peer-reviewed publications, with over 600 citations.
• Chief Investigator and technical coordinator of a multi-institutional AUD 398,000 project on blackouts and power-system restoration.
• More than 200 completed journal reviews.
• Research experience across Australia, Malaysia, Poland, and Canada, combining Lyapunov-based analysis with EMT modelling, real-time simulation, rapid-control prototyping, and laboratory validation.
• Coordination of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Australia and international partner programmes.
• Formal supervision of a master’s project and technical mentoring of six PhD researchers.
