This article presents a descriptive, correlational, and quantitative study investigating the learning processes of undergraduate construction engineering and architecture students. The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of an alternative learning method compared to traditional approaches in engineering, architecture and construction education. The study focuses on the use of a mobile application (CAMPUS Javeriana) as a tool for experiential learning by using digital technologies, such as construction videos and photos, infographic images, building information modeling (BIM) models, virtual and augmented reality, among others, within the app. Forty‐six architecture students participated in the study, divided into control and experimental groups within each of three undergraduate courses. Pretest and posttest questionnaires were administered to assess the students' learning outcomes, preferences, and perception of the importance of learning technologies. The test results were analyzed using scatter plots, and statistical analysis was conducted using the Jamovi package in R Studio. The students' perceived importance of the mobile app and their preference to use it in the future were also evaluated. Contextual factors such as student characteristics, available resources, and instructors' teaching style were taken into consideration. The study implemented rubrics based on the Expected Learning Results for each course to measure the overall academic performance. Furthermore, the study explores the concept of learning gain and its relationship with the obtained results, shedding light on experiences, perceptions, and academic performance in the specific context of construction education. Findings suggest a positive impact on learning outcomes and perception as a result of using a series of multi‐media technologies in the mobile application.

The integration of digital technologies in managing technical and design information is transforming architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) processes within educational institutions. Despite this, construction education lacks practical, interactive learning tools, and there is insufficient collaboration between academia and the construction industry. To address these challenges, the CAMPUS 2.0 project at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana developed a web-based platform that integrates building information modeling (BIM) and gamification elements. This platform improves project coordination, facilitates interdisciplinary learning, and enhances the management of technical and design information for campus buildings. CAMPUS 2.0 also promotes collaboration and active user engagement, filling a critical gap in the practical tools in construction education. This study assesses the usability of CAMPUS 2.0 among 235 students, teachers, and staff members, demonstrating a positive impact on the university community. The findings provide insights into how digital tools can improve project management, interdisciplinary collaboration, and knowledge sharing within educational settings, offering broader implications for other institutions.

Universities in the Ibero-American region face increasing challenges in waste management due to campus growth and limited infrastructure. This paper proposes a modular, technology-driven framework to support more efficient and sustainable waste practices. The framework integrates smart bins equipped with IoT sensors, computer vision-based sorting systems, and blockchain-enabled tracking. While the proposed model has not yet been piloted in the region, its design is grounded in international case studies and documented outcomes. These cases report recycling rate improvements of up to 40%, operational cost reductions between 20-30%, and increased user engagement through mobile applications and gamified participation. The framework offers a practical roadmap for universities seeking to modernize their waste systems and aligns with broader sustainability objectives through scalable implementation strategies.

Introduction: This experimental study focuses on the cognitive development of children and its association with nutrition. The semantic associations of boys and girls aged 6-13 years from nine different cities in Colombia (N = 454) were analyzed. Method: The design is exploratory and descriptive correlational cross-sectional. The study utilized a discrete free association task, instructing participants to respond to a critical word with the first five words that came to mind. The task covered 100 Spanish food words and 20 brands of food products. Results: J-values are presented by age, socioeconomic status, gender and grade level. The identification of significant similarities (p-value < .001) between the distributions of critical words and the most frequently emitted (f), highlighted the hedonic influence on children’s food preferences, identifying 20 frequent descriptors of pleasure or hedonic topics in food consumption, with terms such as sweet (f = 234) and rich (f = 104) standing out. Conclusions: The study observed a population misinterpretation of the concept healthy (f = 52) in relation to food. The analysis of semantic associations for the top 20 infant food brands, supported by Jaccard’s index, revealed ten significant connections for each brand. These findings suggest important implications for understanding organoleptic food and product learning processes in childhood. The study emphasizes the importance of addressing hedonic perceptions and fostering a more precise understanding of health-related concepts within the realm of children’s dietary preferences.

The integration of digital technologies in managing technical and design information is trans-forming the fields of architecture and construction. This article presents a website developed to compile detailed information on the construction processes of buildings at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ) campus. The site offers comprehensive construction records and interviews with designers, engineers and other professionals who collaborated to align design approaches with technical construction requirements. A chronological record of the construction processes was maintained, from inception to completion of the buildings. Digital tools include interactive modules that facilitate access and data updates, improving coordination and efficiency for man-aging future projects. Gamification elements and social media dissemination boost user engage-ment. The study also assesses the impact of the website on the university community, analyzing usability and user (N=235), among students, teachers, and staff members. Findings indicate that digital technologies optimize construction processes and improve the management of technical and design information, and reveal opportunities for future projects and research, benefiting both internal and external stakeholders.
