Prof. Josué Medellín-Azuara is an Associate Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Merced. He is also an Associate Director for the UC Davis Center for Watershed Sciences and the UC Agricultural Issues Center and an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Public Policy Institute of California. Josué is the principal investigator for the economic impact assessments of recent California droughts on agriculture and communities and has also served at various capacities in climate change regional assessments, environmental justice in water security, and international collaborative projects with universities and other organizations around water resources management and agriculture. Josué holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical and electrical engineering from Monterrey Tec, a master’s degree in business administration from Monterrey Tec, as well as a master’s degree in agricultural and resource economics and a Ph.D. degree in ecology environmental policy from the University of California, Davis. His research interests include large-scale hydro-economic modeling for water management and policy analysis; water management for agricultural, environmental, and urban uses; agricultural production adaptation to drought and climate change; sustainable agroecosystems for water and food security; water informatics and consumptive water use in agriculture using remote sensing; and impact analysis using partial and general equilibrium models.
