Educational data generated through various platforms such as e-learning, e-admission systems, and automated result management systems can be effectively processed through educational data mining techniques in order to gather highly useful insights into students’ performance. The prediction of student performance from historical academic data is a highly desirable application of educational data mining. In this regard, there is an urgent need to develop an automated technique for student performance prediction. Existing studies on student performance prediction primarily focus on utilizing the conventional feature representation schemes, where extracted features are fed to a classifier. In recent years, deep learning has enabled researchers to automatically extract high-level features from raw data. Such advanced feature representation schemes enable superior performance in challenging tasks. In this work, we examine the deep neural network model, namely, the attention-based Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) network to efficiently predict student performance (grades) from historical data. In this article, we have used the most advanced BiLSTM combined with an attention mechanism model by analyzing existing research problems, which are based on advanced feature classification and prediction. This work is really vital for academicians, universities, and government departments to early predict the performance. The superior sequence learning capabilities of BiLSTM combined with attention mechanism yield superior performance compared to the existing state-of-the-art. The proposed method has achieved a prediction accuracy of 90.16%.
Spherical fuzzy set (SFS) is one of the most important and extensive concept to accommodate more uncertainties than existing fuzzy set structures. In this article, we will describe a novel enhanced TOPSIS-based procedure for tackling multi attribute group decision making (MAGDM) issues under spherical fuzzy setting, in which the weights of both decision-makers (DMs) and criteria are totally unknown. First, we study the notion of SFSs, the score and accuracy functions of SFSs and their basic operating laws. In addition, defined the generalized distance measure for SFSs based on spherical fuzzy entropy measure to compute the unknown weights information. Secondly, the spherical fuzzy information-based decision-making technique for MAGDM is presented. Lastly, an illustrative example is delivered with robot selection to reveal the efficiency of the proposed spherical fuzzy decision support approach, along with the discussion of comparative results, to prove that their results are feasible and credible.
The classification of emotional states from poetry or formal text has received less attention by the experts of computational intelligence in recent times as compared to informal textual content like SMS, email, chat, and online user reviews. In this study, an emotional state classification system for poetry text is proposed using the latest and cutting edge technology of Artificial Intelligence, called Deep Learning. For this purpose, an attention-based C-BiLSTM model is implemented on the poetry corpus. The proposed approach classifies the text of poetry into different emotional states, like love, joy, hope, sadness, anger, etc. Different experiments are conducted to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed system as compared to other state-of-art methods as well as machine learning and deep learning methods. Experimental results depict that the proposed model outperformed the baselines studies with 88% accuracy. Furthermore, the analysis of the statistical experiment also validates the performance of the proposed approach.
The molecular structure of macromolecules in living cells is ambiguous unless we classify them in a scientific manner. Signal peptides are of vital importance in determining the behavior of newly formed proteins towards their destined path in cellular and extracellular location in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes. In the present research work, a novel method is offered to foreknow the behavior of signal peptides and determine their cleavage site. The proposed model employs neural networks using isolated sets of prokaryote and eukaryote primary sequences. Protein sequences are classified as secretory or non-secretory in order to investigate secretory proteins and their signal peptides. In comparison with the previous prediction tools, the proposed algorithm is more rigorous, well-organized, significantly appropriate and highly accurate for the examination of signal peptides even in extensive collection of protein sequences.
