Prof. Jong-Won Seo currently works as a Professor at the Construction Management and Automation Lab, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul, Republic of Korea. He was an Associate Professor from 2008 to 2013, and an Assistant Professor from 2002 to 2008 at this university. He earned, a Master’s Degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin in 1993 and 1998 separately. He is pursuing state-of-the-art research and development in construction and civil infrastructure including both soft and hard automation. He is mainly focusing on design/construction/maintenance/operation automation, innovative sensing and information technologies for infrastructure monitoring and maintenance. A low carbon construction equipment operating system, a flexible BIM system for design, construction and maintenance of alignment-based civil structure, and an infrastructure maintenance system based on BIM are his recent research projects.
