Chinese address element segmentation is a basic and key step in geocoding technology, and the segmentation results directly affect the accuracy and certainty of geocoding. However, due to the lack of obvious word boundaries in Chinese text, the grammatical and semantic features of Chinese text are complicated. Coupled with the diversity and complexity in Chinese address expressions, the segmentation of Chinese address elements is a substantial challenge. Therefore, this paper proposes a method of Chinese address element segmentation based on a bidirectional gated recurrent unit (Bi-GRU) neural network. This method uses the Bi-GRU neural network to generate tag features based on Chinese word segmentation and then uses the Viterbi algorithm to perform tag inference to achieve the segmentation of Chinese address elements. The neural network model is trained and verified based on the point of interest (POI) address data and partial directory data from the Baidu map of Beijing. The results show that the method is superior to previous neural network models in terms of segmentation performance and efficiency.

Urban nighttime leisure spaces (UNLSs), important urban sites of nighttime economic activity, have created enormous economic and social benefits. Both the physical features (e.g., location, shape, and area) and the social functions (e.g., commercial streets, office buildings, and entertainment venues) of UNLSs are important in UNLS mapping. However, most studies rely solely on census data or nighttime light (NTL) images to map the physical features of UNLSs, which limits UNLS mapping, and few studies perform UNLS mapping from a social function perspective. Point-of-interest (POI) data, which can reflect social activity functions, are needed. As a result, a novel methodological UNLS mapping framework, that integrates NTL images and POI data is required. Consequently, we first extracted high-NTL intensity and high-POI density areas from composite data as areas with high nightlife activity levels. Then, the POI data were analyzed to identify the social functions of leisure spaces revealing that nighttime leisure activities are not abundant in Beijing overall, the total UNLS area in Beijing is 31.08 km2, which accounts for only 0.2% of the total area of Beijing. In addition, the nightlife activities in the central urban area are more abundant than those in the suburbs. The main urban area has the largest UNLS area. Compared with the nightlife landmarks in Beijing established by the government, our results provide more details on the spatial pattern of nighttime leisure activities throughout the city. Our study aims to provide new insights into how multisource data can be leveraged for UNLS mapping to enable researchers to broaden their study scope. This investigation can also help government departments better understand the local nightlife situation to rationally formulate planning and adjustment measures.

Point of interest (POI) matching finds POI pairs that refer to the same real-world entity, which is the core issue in geospatial data integration. To address the low accuracy of geospatial entity matching using a single feature attribute, this study proposes a method that combines the D–S (Dempster–Shafer) evidence theory and a multiattribute matching strategy. During POI data preprocessing, this method calculates the spatial similarity, name similarity, address similarity, and category similarity between pairs from different geospatial datasets, using the multiattribute matching strategy. The similarity calculation results of these four types of feature attributes were used as independent evidence to construct the basic probability distribution. A multiattribute model was separately constructed using the improved combination rule of the D–S evidence theory, and a series of decision thresholds were set to give the final entity matching results. We tested our method with a dataset containing Baidu POIs and Gaode POIs from Beijing. The results showed the following—(1) the multiattribute matching model based on improved DS evidence theory had good performance in terms of precision, recall, and F1 for entity-matching from different datasets; (2) among all models, the model combining the spatial, name, and category (SNC) attributes obtained the best performance in the POI entity matching process; and (3) the method could effectively address the low precision of entity matching using a single feature attribute.

Surface water is of great importance to ecosystems and economies. Crucial to understanding hydrological variability and its relationships to human activities at large scales, open-access satellite datasets and big-data computational methods are now enabling the global mapping of the distribution and changes of inland water over time. A machine-learning algorithm, previously used only to map water at single points in time, was applied over 16 years of the USGS Landsat archive to detect and map surface water over central Asia from 2000 to 2015 at a 30-m, monthly resolution. The resulting dataset had an overall classification accuracy of 99.59% (±0.32% standard error), 98.24% (±1.02%) user’s accuracy, and 87.12% (±3.21%) producer’s accuracy for water class. This study describes the temporal extension of the algorithm and the application of the dataset to present patterns of regional surface water cover and change. The findings indicate that smaller water bodies are dramatically changing in two specific ecological zones: the Kazakh Steppe and the Tian Shan Montane Steppe and Meadows. Both the maximum and minimum extent of water bodies have decreased over the 16-year period, but the rate of decrease of the maxima was double that of the minima. Coverage decreased in each month from April to October, and a significant decrease in water area was found in April and May. These results indicate that the dataset can provide insights into the behavior of surface water across central Asia through time, and that the method can be further developed for regional and global applications.

Previous studies have demonstrated that non-Euclidean distance metrics can improve model fit in the geographically weighted regression (GWR) model. However, the GWR model often considers spatial nonstationarity and does not address variations in local temporal issues. Therefore, this paper explores a geographically temporal weighted regression (GTWR) approach that accounts for both spatial and temporal nonstationarity simultaneously to estimate house prices based on travel time distance metrics. Using house price data collected between 1980 and 2016, the house price response and explanatory variables are then modeled using both the GWR and the GTWR approaches. Comparing the GWR model with Euclidean and travel distance metrics, the GTWR model with travel distance obtains the highest value for the coefficient of determination ( R 2 ) and the lowest values for the Akaike information criterion (AIC). The results show that the GTWR model provides a relatively high goodness of fit and sufficient space-time explanatory power with non-Euclidean distance metrics. The results of this study can be used to formulate more effective policies for real estate management.

Geological disaster risk assessment can quantitatively assess the risk of disasters to hazard-bearing bodies. Visualizing the risk of geological disasters can provide scientific references for regional engineering construction, urban planning, and disaster prevention and mitigation. There are some problems in the current binary classification landslide risk assessment model, such as a single sample type, slow multiclass classification speed, large differences in the number of positive and negative samples, and large errors in classification results. This paper introduces multilevel landslide hazard scale samples, selects multiple types of samples according to the divided multilevel landslide hazard scale grade, and proposes a landslide hazard assessment model based on a multiclass support vector machine (SVM). Due to the objective limitations of the single weighting method, the combined weights are used to determine the vulnerability of the landslide hazard-bearing body, and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy method are combined to construct a landslide vulnerability assessment model that considers subjective and objective weights. This paper takes landslide disasters in Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, as the research object. Based on the landslide hazard assessment model and the landslide vulnerability assessment model, a landslide risk assessment experiment is carried out. It generates the landslide risk assessment zoning map and summarizes the risk characteristics of landslides in various towns. The experimental results verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed model and provide important decision support for decision makers in Xianyang City.
