This study aims to evaluate difficulties in emotion regulation and accompanying psychiatric symptoms in adolescents diagnosed with migraine. The study included 30 adolescents aged 12 to 18 years diagnosed with migraine and 30 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Participants were assessed using the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS-16), the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA), and the Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale (RCADS). Additionally, parents completed the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ).Adolescents with migraine showed significantly greater difficulties in emotion regulation (DERS-16 total score, t = 3.521, p = 0.026, effect size = 0.64) and higher levels of depression, generalized anxiety and social anxiety (RCADS score t = 4.328, effect size = 1.32, p < 0.01; t = 2.354, effect size = 0.59, p = 0.022; t = 3.363, effect size = 1.12, p < 0.01, respectively) compared to controls. Parental assessments indicated higher internalizing and total difficulty scores in the migraine group (SDQ score z = 2.633, effect size = 048, p = 0.008; t = 2.419, effect size = 032, p = 0.016; t = 2.095, effect size = 029, p = 0.036, respectively). However, there were no significant group differences in the use of emotion regulation strategies (ERQ-CA score t = −0.236, p = 0.814; t = −0.957, p = 0.104, respectively). This study highlights the psychological and emotional difficulties experienced by adolescents with migraine, emphasizing the importance of early psychiatric evaluation and psychotherapeutic interventions aimed at improving emotion regulation skills and psychosocial interventions focusing on lifestyle modifications as part of comprehensive migraine management. Limitations include the cross-sectional design, reliance on self-report measures, and modest sample size, which may limit generalizability. Future longitudinal and neurobiologically informed research is needed to clarify causal relationships and intervention targets.

Introductıon: Scabies is a contagious, infectious skin disease that is observed worldwide. Scabies affects individuals of all ages, although it exhibits significant differences between childhood and adulthood. While publications documenting the co-occurrence of anxiety, depression, and impaired quality of life in adult patients with scabies are increasing, the presence of these issues in pediatric patients remains a topic of curiosity. Objectıves: In this study, we aimed to investigate the presence of sleep disorders, quality of life, anxiety, and depression in children with scabies. Methods: In this analytical case-control study, 68 scabies patients and 69 healthy controls aged between 6 and 17 years were included. Results: In patients with scabies, sleep quality was significantly poorer compared to the control group (p<0.001). There was no difference between the 2 groups in terms of RCADS (Revised Children's Anxiety and Depression Scale) and total anxiety and depression scores. In the control group, the number of individuals with upper and upper-middle socioeconomic levels was higher (p=0.036). A moderate correlation was found between impairment in dermatology-related quality of life and deterioration in sleep quality in patients with scabies (r=0.606, p<0.001). Conclusıon: This study found that sleep disorders are common among children diagnosed with scabies, negatively impacting their quality of life compared to healthy controls. We believe that obtaining information about both night and day sleep patterns during dermatological follow-ups of children diagnosed with scabies, and providing recommendations on sleep hygiene as part of the treatment process, may have positive effects on a child’s quality of life.

Background: This study aims to examine the prevalence of peer bullying among Turkish-speaking school-aged children who stutter (CWS) and to explore the relationships between exposure to bullying and self-esteem, depression, and anxiety symptoms in these children. Methods: The study included a case group of 35 children diagnosed with stuttering and a control group of 35 children with fluent speech. The children in the stuttering group were assessed by a speech and language therapist using the Stuttering Severity Instrument. Additionally, all children were asked to complete the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire, and the Revised-Child Anxiety and Depression Scale (RCADS). Results: There was a significant relationship between peer bullying experiences, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression symptoms between both groups (p< 0.05). CWS demonstrated greater susceptibility to peer bullying compared to the control group, and they scored higher on the RSES, indicating reduced self-esteem. Furthermore, it was found that symptom scores for depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and social anxiety disorder increased in stuttering children with low self-esteem. Discussion: Our study demonstrated that school-aged CWS exhibit lower self-esteem and more pronounced symptoms of anxiety and depressive disorders. We believe that healthcare professionals working with the school-age CWS should assess their self-esteem and engage them in activities aimed at enhancing self-esteem, as this may help prevent the development of secondary psychopathologies such as depressive disorder, anxiety disorder.
