With the continuing global pandemic of coronavirus (COVID-19) sickness, it is critical to seek diagnostic approaches that are both effective and rapid to limit the number of people infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The results of recent research suggest that radiological images include important information related to COVID-19 and other chest diseases. As a result, the use of deep learning (DL) to assist in the automated diagnosis of chest diseases may prove useful as a diagnostic tool in the future. In this study, we propose a novel fusion model of hand-crafted features with deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) for classifying ten different chest diseases such as COVID-19, lung cancer (LC), atelectasis (ATE), consolidation lung (COL), tuberculosis (TB), pneumothorax (PNET), edema (EDE), pneumonia (PNEU), pleural thickening (PLT), and normal using chest X-rays (CXR). The method that has been suggested is split down into three distinct parts. The first step involves utilizing the Info-MGAN network to perform segmentation on the raw CXR data to construct lung images of ten different chest diseases. In the second step, the segmented lung images are fed into a novel pipeline that extracts discriminatory features by using hand-crafted techniques such as SURF and ORB, and then these extracted features are fused to the trained DCNNs. At last, various machine learning (ML) models have been used as the last layer of the DCNN models for the classification of chest diseases. Comparison is made between the performance of various proposed architectures for classification, all of which integrate DCNNs, key point extraction methods, and ML models. We were able to attain a classification accuracy of 98.20% for testing by utilizing the VGG-19 model with a softmax layer in conjunction with the ORB technique. Screening for COVID-19 and other lung ailments can be accomplished using the method that has been proposed. The robustness of the model was further confirmed by statistical analyses of the datasets using McNemar’s and ANOVA tests respectively.
Emotions play a vital role in education. Technological advancement in computer vision using deep learning models has improved automatic emotion recognition. In this study, a real-time automatic emotion recognition system is developed incorporating novel salient facial features for classroom assessment using a deep learning model. The proposed novel facial features for each emotion are initially detected using HOG for face recognition, and automatic emotion recognition is then performed by training a convolutional neural network (CNN) that takes real-time input from a camera deployed in the classroom. The proposed emotion recognition system will analyze the facial expressions of each student during learning. The selected emotional states are happiness, sadness, and fear along with the cognitive–emotional states of satisfaction, dissatisfaction, and concentration. The selected emotional states are tested against selected variables gender, department, lecture time, seating positions, and the difficulty of a subject. The proposed system contributes to improve classroom learning.
Agriculture activities are completely dependent upon energy production worldwide. This research presents sensorless speed control of a three-phase induction motor aided with an extended Kalman filter (EKF). Although a proportional integral (PI) controller can ensure tracking of the rotor speed, a considerable magnitude of ripples is present in the torque generated by a motor. Adding a simple derivative to have a proportional integral derivative (PID) action can cause a further increase in ripple magnitude, as it allows the addition of high-frequency noise in the system. Therefore, a fractional-order-based PID control is presented. The proposed control scheme is applied in a closed loop with the system, and simulation results are compared with the PID controller. It is evident from the results that the fractional order control not only ensures 20 times faster tracking, but ripple magnitude in torque was also reduced by a factor of 50% compared to that while using PID and ensures the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
Feature selection is the preliminary step in machine learning and data mining. It identifies the most important and relevant features within a dataset by eliminating the redundant or irrelevant features. The substantial benefits may include an improved performance in terms of high prediction accuracy, reduced computational complexity, and simply interpretable underlying models. In this paper, we present a novel framework to investigate and understand the importance of Monte Carlo tree search (MCTS) in feature selection for very high-dimensional datasets. We construct a binary feature selection tree where each node represents one of the two feature states: a feature is selected or not. The search starts with an empty root node reflecting that no feature is selected. Then, the search tree is expanded by adding nodes in an incremental fashion through MCTS-based simulations. Following tree and default policy, every iteration generates an initial feature subset, where a filter is used to select the top k features forming the candidate feature subset. The classification accuracy is used as the goodness or reward of the candidate feature subset and propagated backward up to the root node following the active path. Finally, the candidate subset with highest reward is selected as the best feature subset. Experiments are performed on 30 real-world datasets, including 14 very high-dimensional microarray datasets, and results are also compared with state-of-the-art methods in the literature, which proves the efficacy, validity, and significance of the proposed method.
The reforming Project management (PM) is changing at continuous basis in the field of IT industry. Project managers have to face a continuous pressure for profligate turnovers delivery because they have to face frequent variations in the requirements of business also when they are to work with limited budgets as well as small teams. In order to follow and fulfil the demands of IT project management, IT leaders are found engaged in a continuous effort of enhancing and implementing the new as well as different more effective strategies and styles. The main purpose of this paper is to propose an interoperable hybrid technique with change management, while introducing the agility in the scaled traditional development models. The requirement assessment strategy is proposed for the each change iteration by controlling time cost and the quality by using TCQ metric. A trade-off revelation between time cost and quality will be clear after measuring TCQ Metric. The paper also highlights open source transition in an IT concern which is required for transforming from the traditional method to the projected fresh hybrid methodology, we propose OPENTCQ an open inter operable framework for any approach use for the software development.
The substantial rise in the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) has emphasized an environment-friendly and intelligent design for speed control strategies. In this paper, a Mamdani fuzzy logic controller (MFLC) was proposed to vigorously control the speed of EVs at discrete levels. MFLC member functions (MFs) are tuned for EVs operating at three different speed modes (40, 60, and 80 km/h). The proposed speed controller operation for the speed tracking of EVs was designed and tested in MATLAB (Simulink) environment. The proposed speed controller validated a remarkable improvement in dynamic speed control compared with existing P-I, FLC, Fuzzy FOPID (ACO), Fuzzy FOPID (GA), and Fuzzy FOPID (PSO) controllers. Its stability under a user-defined drive pattern is also observed. In this proposed work, the speed controller highlights the better tracking of user-defined speed response compared to the conventional aforementioned controllers. Moreover, the speed tracking of the designed model was tested for robustness against speed transients at predefined time instants, respectively. The comparison suggests that the MFLC model removes overshoot and significantly reduces the steady-state time.
