Elisa Michelini is an Associate Professor in Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry “Giacomo Ciamician” of the University of Bologna. She has over 20 years of experience in the development of bioanalytical methods and optical biosensors (e.g., smartphone biosensors and paper sensors) for the water, environmental, agro-food and clinical sectors. She has co-authored more than 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals (H-index 35). She is the secretary and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the ISBC. She has been a recipient of several awards, she has coordinated a NATO-SPS project, and she has been deeply involved in projects funded by the European Commission as well as international public and private institutions.
