Timely, balanced, and transparent detection of retinal diseases is essential to avert irreversible vision loss; however, current deep learning screeners are hampered by class imbalance, large models, and opaque reasoning. This paper presents a lightweight attention-augmented convolutional neural network (CNN) that addresses all three barriers. The network combines depthwise separable convolutions, squeeze-and-excitation, and global-context attention, and it incorporates gradient-based class activation mapping (Grad-CAM) and Grad-CAM++ to ensure that every decision is accompanied by pixel-level evidence. A 5335-image ten-class color-fundus dataset from Bangladeshi clinics, which was severely skewed (17–1509 images per class), was equalized using a synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) and task-specific augmentations. Images were resized to 150×150 px and split 70:15:15. The training used the adaptive moment estimation (Adam) optimizer (initial learning rate of 1×10−4, reduce-on-plateau, early stopping), ℓ2 regularization, and dual dropout. The 16.6 M parameter network converged in fewer than 50 epochs on a mid-range graphics processing unit (GPU) and reached 87.9% test accuracy, a macro-precision of 0.882, a macro-recall of 0.879, and a macro-F1-score of 0.880, reducing the error by 58% relative to the best ImageNet backbone (Inception-V3, 40.4% accuracy). Eight disorders recorded true-positive rates above 95%; macular scar and central serous chorioretinopathy attained F1-scores of 0.77 and 0.89, respectively. Saliency maps consistently highlighted optic disc margins, subretinal fluid, and other hallmarks. Targeted class re-balancing, lightweight attention, and integrated explainability, therefore, deliver accurate, transparent, and deployable retinal screening suitable for point-of-care ophthalmic triage on resource-limited hardware.

The rapid implementation of multi-cloud architectures, such as the integration of services from multiple cloud providers, gives organizations enhanced flexibility, resilience, and vendor independence. However, the multi-cloud model presents complicated security challenges due to diverse platforms, fragmented governance, and increased areas of concern. This paper presents a comprehensive literature review of the multi-cloud environment arena, focusing on the analysis of threats, vulnerabilities, cost optimization, mitigation strategies, and research trends. It covers a comprehensive range of risks, including data breaches, insider threats, API exploitation, configuration errors, and emerging multi-vector attacks, as well as the cumulative complexity of aligning policies, managing identities, and ensuring compliance across diverse providers. The review analyzes existing and proposed defence mechanisms, spanning cryptographic techniques, fuzzy-logic decision frameworks, AI and ML-driven detection systems, as well as integrated Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems. Analysis of relevant literature reveals a progression from basic foundational encryption systems toward more sophisticated, policy-driven, and collaboration-capable security frameworks. Additionally, the paper identifies significant research gaps in real-world validation, cost optimization, and unified governance models. This research departs from prior work by integrating multiple perspectives rather than limiting its scope to a single area such as security, defence, or cost optimization. It also provides new researchers with comprehensive background information on cloud architecture within a single article.

Natural Language Processing enables computers to understand human language by analysing and classifying text efficiently with deep-level grammatical and semantic features. Existing models capture features by learning from large corpora with transformer models, which are computationally intensive and unsuitable for resource-constrained environments. Therefore, our proposed study incorporates comprehensive grammatical rules alongside semantic information to build a robust, lightweight classification model without resorting to full parameterised transformer models or heavy deep learning architectures. The novelty of our approach lies in its explicit encoding of sentence-level grammatical structure, including syntactic composition, phrase patterns, and complexity indicators, into a compact grammar vector, which is then fused with frozen contextual embeddings. These heterogeneous elements unified a single representation that captures both the structural and semantic characteristics of the text. Deep learning models such as Deep Belief Networks (DBNs), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTMs), BiLSTMs, and transformer-based BERT and XLNET were used to train and evaluate the model, with the number of epochs varied. Based on experimental results, the unified feature representation model captures both the semantic and structural properties of text, outperforming baseline models by 2%-15%, enabling more effective learning across heterogeneous domains. Unlike prior syntax-aware transformer models that inject grammatical structure through additional attention layers, tree encoders, or full fine-tuning, the proposed framework treats grammar as an explicit inductive bias rather than a learnable module, resulting in a very lightweight model that delivers better performance on edge devices
