Braulio Contreras-Trigo was born in 1969 in Vallenar, Chile. He graduated in Biochemistry at the Universidad de Concepción (1995) and obtained an MSc. degree in Innovation in Biosciences and Bioengineering at the Universidad San Sebastián (2021). He has been at the latter institution since 2007, where he was an undergraduate lecturer between 2007 and 2019. Since 2015 he has been dedicated to research in the Nanobiotechnology and Optoelectronics Laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering Architecture and Design, in areas related to optical sensors, delivery of bioactive compounds, and biomaterials with applications in health, engineering, and food.
