Sergio N. Torres (Member, IEEE) was born in Concepción, Chile, in 1962. He received a B.S.E.E. and professional engineering degree from the University of Concepción, Concepción, Chile, in 1987 and M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees in engineering from the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH, USA, in 1997 and 2001, respectively. Since 1987, he has been a faculty member with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Concepción. His research interests include digital signal and imaging processing applied to electro-optical systems, optical sensors, optical communications, and infrared imaging systems. He is a member of the SPIE and OSA.
