Dr. Wadha A Alfouzan is fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in medical microbiology. She holds a master’s degree in Medical Mycology from University College London. She is also an associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University. Dr. Alfouzan held the positions of head of laboratory medicine and head of the microbiology unit in Farwaniya hospital from 2015 to 2018. She is currently the head of the laboratory department in Al-Salam Al-Assimah hospital. Her interests are mainly focused on candida infections, hospital-acquired infections, and antimicrobial resistance. She has received many awards, including the Kuwait Fund for Advancement of Science (KFAS) Jaber Al Ahmad Young Researchers Award for 2020, and has published over 70 articles in esteemed journals.
