Silvia Scaramuzzi is Associate Professor in Agricultural Economics and Agri-food Marketing at the University of Florence, Department of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Forestry, and Head of International Relations for the School of Agriculture of the University of Florence.
She obtained a Master in Economics at University “La Sapienza” Rome (Italy) in 1989 and a PhD in Agricultural Economics and Policy at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 1994.
Her research activities are centered on the following main thematic fields: Rural development with specific attention to rural tourism and agri-tourism, biodiversity and conservation; the role of credit as a tool of agricultural policy; the economics of quality and valorization of typical agri-food products; the analysis of the structural and development characteristics of the agro-industrial system and its components.
Since 1992, the research activity has been carried out through coordination and participation in national and international research projects. The results of the research activity have been published in more than 120 collective works and papers.
She is a member of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE), of the Italian Association of Agricultural Economics (SIDEA) and in 2019 she was appointed member of the International Accademia dei Georgofili.
