Information

Full Professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering. He has over 30 years of experience in the field of research in energy engineering (plants and their components), dealing with both the theoretical aspects and the development of energy technologies, even if he is more focused on experimental aspects. He is involved in many industrial contracts and European and national projects, with direct responsibility. In the last several years he has been very involved in the development of concentrator systems for solar thermal applications, both for CSP and for industrial processes, as well as their reach to the residential sector.   He is the author of over 90 publications in international journals and conferences, and well recognized at the European level as the coordinator of the Italian Concentration Solar Platform. He is a member of the national BOARD for Horizon 2020 and is part of the European WG (working group) for CSP technologies. He is a member of the IGTI Controls & Diagnostics Committee and of the Industrial Cogeneration Committee.   Honors: the IGTI awarded him one of the first Best Paper Awards given in Italy for his work, "An Infrared Pirometry System for Monitoring Gas Turbine Blades: Development of a Computer Model and Experimental Results ", which concerns the development of a system developed for monitoring and controlling the temperature of the rotating parts of the most critical parts of the gas turbine, without direct contact.
