Dr. Selene Tognarelli is a postdoc and Technologist at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (SSSA), Pisa, Italy, under the mentorship of Prof. Arianna Menciassi within the Surgical Robotics and Allied Technologies area at the BioRobotics Institute, where she works on both technical aspects and project management (she is/has been the Project Manager of national and international projects). She obtained, all with honours, a Ph.D. in BioRobotics from SSSA (graduated in May 2011, admitted in January 2008 with scholarship) and a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pisa (in April 2007). She spent a visiting research period of six months at the Nanorobotic Laboratory of the École Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada, attended an Executive Master on Project Management in 2013, and has long-lasting experience in project management. Her main research interests involve biomedical robotics, microsystem technology and material science, with a special attention to the mechatronic aspects of miniaturized robotic devices. She has a growing track record in biorobotics, and, in this field, she has co-authored high-impact publications. She has an h-index of 10 in Google Scholar and 9 in Scopus. She has one PCT application and one Italian patent application. She regularly serves as a reviewer for international conferences in the field of bioengineering and biorobotics, as well as international scientific journals.
