The self-powered photoelectrochemical components themselves featured advancements in operating independently without external supply. Ultimately, due to lack of assistance from the external bias, the photoelectrochemical response is commonly restricted by the deficient photo-quantum efficiency for the absence of carrier multiplication. This work demonstrates a self-powered photoelectrochemical photodetector based on CuOx/AlGaN nanowires with staggered band structure and enhanced built-in potential for efficient exciton extraction. The generated multiple excitons within reach-through CuOx layer could be speedily separated before Auger recombination. This yields a 131.5% external quantum efficiency and 270.6 mA W−1 responsivity at 255 nm. The work confirms the role of multiple exciton generation in photoelectrochemical systems, offering a solution on paving path of advance for self-powered optoelectronics and weak-light UV imaging applications.
The transition metal chalcogenides represented by MoS2 are the ideal choice for non-precious metal-based hydrogen evolution catalysts. However, whether in acidic or alkaline environments, the catalytic activity of pure MoS2 is still difficult to compete with Pt. Recent studies have shown that the electronic structure of materials can be adjusted by constructing lattice-matched heterojunctions, thus optimizing the adsorption free energy of intermediates in the catalytic hydrogen production process of materials, so as to effectively improve the electrocatalytic hydrogen production activity of catalysts. However, it is still a great challenge to prepare heterojunctions with lattice-matched structures as efficient electrocatalytic hydrogen production catalysts. Herein, we developed a one-step hydrothermal method to construct Ni-MoS2@NiS2@Ni3S2 (Ni-MoS2 on behalf of Ni doping MoS2) electrocatalyst with multiple heterogeneous interfaces which possesses rich catalytic reaction sites. The Ni-MoS2@NiS2@Ni3S2 electrocatalyst produced an extremely low overpotential of 69.4 mV with 10 mA·cm−2 current density for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in 1.0 M KOH. This work provides valuable enlightenment for exploring the mechanism of HER enhancement to optimize the surface electronic structure of MoS2, and provides an effective idea for constructing rare metal catalysts in HER and other fields.
Micro-LED is considered an emerging display technology with significant potential for high resolution, brightness, and energy efficiency in display applications. However, its decreasing pixel size and complex manufacturing process create challenges for its integration with driving units. Recently, researchers have proposed various methods to achieve highly integrated micro-structures with driving unit. Researchers take advantage of the high performance of the transistors to achieve low power consumption, high current gain, and fast response frequency. This paper gives a review of recent studies on the new integration methods of micro-LEDs with different types of transistors, including the integration with BJT, HEMT, TFT, and MOSFET.
Deformable catalytic material with excellent flexible structure is a new type of catalyst that has been applied in various chemical reactions, especially electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In recent years, deformable catalysts for HER have made great progress and would become a research hotspot. The catalytic activities of deformable catalysts could be adjustable by the strain engineering and surface reconfiguration. The surface curvature of flexible catalytic materials is closely related to the electrocatalytic HER properties. Here, firstly, we systematically summarized self-adaptive catalytic performance of deformable catalysts and various micro–nanostructures evolution in catalytic HER process. Secondly, a series of strategies to design highly active catalysts based on the mechanical flexibility of low-dimensional nanomaterials were summarized. Last but not least, we presented the challenges and prospects of the study of flexible and deformable micro–nanostructures of electrocatalysts, which would further deepen the understanding of catalytic mechanisms of deformable HER catalyst.
GaN-based Micro-LED has been widely regarded as the most promising candidate for next generation of revolutionary display technology due to its advantages of high efficiency, high brightness and high stability. However, the typical micro-fabrication process would leave a great number of damages on the sidewalls of LED pixels, especially for Micro-LEDs, thus reducing the light emitting efficiency. In this paper, sidewall passivation methods were optimized by using acid-base wet etching and SiO2 layer passivation. The optical and electrical characteristics of optimized Micro-LEDs were measured and analyzed. The internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of Micro-LED was increased to 85.4%, and the reverse leakage current was reduced down to 10−13 A at −5 V. Optimized sidewall passivation can significantly reduce the non-radiative recombination centers, improving the device performance and supporting the development of high-resolution Micro-LED display.
