M.C. is working on infectious disease epidemiology and public health. She leads an influenza group in Pakistan. She is running two laboratories with Biosafety Level-II equipped with all the facilities to conduct diagnosis of pathogens. She is working on diseases at the human–animal interface. Her group collaborates with many research institutes worldwide and has developed international collaborative projects aiming to enhance capabilities and capacity building in developing countries. She has published over 25 research articles on epidemiology, surveillance, and disease investigation and descriptive studies on various zoonotic and infectious diseases. M.C. has recently won a major research grant worth USD 2,36,900, as the lead PI, entitled "Targeted Surveillance of Avian Influenza in High Risk Groups".
