Underwater images are important carriers and forms of underwater information, playing a vital role in exploring and utilizing marine resources. However, underwater images have characteristics of low contrast and blurred details because of the absorption and scattering of light. In recent years, deep learning has been widely used in underwater image enhancement and restoration because of its powerful feature learning capabilities, but there are still shortcomings in detailed enhancement. To address the problem, this paper proposes a deep supervised residual dense network (DS_RD_Net), which is used to better learn the mapping relationship between clear in-air images and synthetic underwater degraded images. DS_RD_Net first uses residual dense blocks to extract features to enhance feature utilization; then, it adds residual path blocks between the encoder and decoder to reduce the semantic differences between the low-level features and high-level features; finally, it employs a deep supervision mechanism to guide network training to improve gradient propagation. Experiments results (PSNR was 36.2, SSIM was 96.5%, and UCIQE was 0.53) demonstrated that the proposed method can fully retain the local details of the image while performing color restoration and defogging compared with other image enhancement methods, achieving good qualitative and quantitative effects.

The lithium-ion battery is the power source of an electric vehicle, so it is of great significance to estimate the state of charge (SOC) of lithium-ion batteries accurately to ensure vehicle safety. To improve the accuracy of the parameters of the equivalent circuit model for batteries, a second-order RC model for ternary Li-ion batteries is established, and the model parameters are identified online based on the forgetting factor recursive least squares (FFRLS) estimator. To improve the accuracy of SOC estimation, a novel fusion method, IGA-BP-AEKF, is proposed. Firstly, an adaptive extended Kalman filter (AEKF) is used to predict the SOC. Then, an optimization method for BP neural networks (BPNNs) based on an improved genetic algorithm (IGA) is proposed, in which pertinent parameters affecting AEKF estimation are utilized for BPNN training. Furthermore, a method with evaluation error compensation for AEKF based on such a trained BPNN is proposed to enhance SOC evaluation precision. The excellent accuracy and stability of the suggested method are confirmed by the experimental data under FUDS working conditions, which indicates that the proposed IGA-BP-EKF algorithm is superior, with the highest error of 0.0119, MAE of 0.0083, and RMSE of 0.0088.

Wireless communications for applications of inshore fishery and large area aquatic environmental monitoring are really challenging, due to the characteristics of a long monitoring period, large coverage area, and adverse transmission conditions. Recently, LPWAN (low-power wide-area network) became the new solution to address these challenges, due to its long transmission distance and low power consumption of end-nodes. In this paper, we designed a novel network system for aquatic environmental monitoring, based on long-range 2.4G technology, which consisted of a low cost dual-channel gateway and end-nodes. A DMSF (dual-channel multiple spreading factors)–TDMA (time division multiple access) MAC (medium access control) scheme for this system was proposed, which largely reduces the channel collision probability, and improves the real-time for urgent data and the average lifetime of end-nodes. We verified the applicability of the long-range 2.4G technology in an aquatic environment, by point-to-point communication experiments over lake water. The performance evaluation and analysis of DMSF–TDMA is presented through simulations, and comparison with other existing schemes. The results demonstrated the benefit of our proposed scheme, in terms of the packet delivery rate, delay, and energy consumption.

Recently, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and LPWANs (low-power wide-area networks) has been a good solution to the problem of data collection for environmental monitoring in remote areas without infrastructure, and there are many valuable research works in this field. UAV data collection for sensor nodes is becoming a challenge, that is, the amount of data will affect the UAV’s communication time and flight status, especially in LPWAN systems. In this paper, the optimization schemes are proposed to improve the efficiency of UAV for collecting data in LoRa network monitoring systems. Firstly, an improved clustering algorithm for the LoRa network is proposed, which considers the influence of distance between the cluster heads and the UAV take-off point. Secondly, we present an improved Genetic Algorithm for path planning to reduce the UAV flight distance, which introduces the Teaching–Learning-based Optimization (TLBO) and local search optimization algorithms to improve convergence speed and the path solution. Then, a LoRa 2.4 GHz adaptive data rate strategy with a dual channel is designed based on distance and link quality, to reduce the data transmitting time between the UAV and the cluster head nodes. Finally, we carry out the simulations and experiments. The results show the performance of the proposed schemes, which means that these can improve the efficiency of UAV data collection with low cost LoRa networks in remote areas without infrastructure.

In mobile robot path planning, the traditional A* algorithm suffers from high path redundancy and poor smoothness, while the Dynamic Window Approach (DWA) tends to deviate from the global optimal path and has low efficiency in avoiding dynamic obstacles when integrated with global path planning. To address these issues, a smoothing optimised A*-guided DWA fusion algorithm (SOA-DWA) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the A* algorithm was improved by introducing a path smoothing strategy and path pruning mechanism, generating a globally optimal path that complied with the vehicle kinematic constraints. Secondly, three sub-functions were introduced into the evaluation function of the DWA algorithm: the distance evaluation between the reference trajectory and the global path, the path direction evaluation, and the dynamic obstacle avoidance evaluation, to enhance the real-time performance of dynamic obstacle avoidance and the consistency of the global path. The SOA-DWA algorithm ensured that the mobile robot could effectively avoid obstacles in complex environments without deviating from the global optimal path. Thirdly, experimental results show that in a static environment, the path length and turning angle of the SOA-DWA algorithm are reduced by an average of 13.3% and 16.25%, respectively, compared with the traditional algorithm. In a dynamic environment, the path length and turning angle are reduced by an average of 10.5% and 14.5% compared to the traditional DWA algorithm, respectively, significantly improving the smoothness of the path and driving safety. Compared to the existing fusion algorithm, the SOA-DWA algorithm reduces the path length by an average of 10.1%, improves planning efficiency by an average of 42%, and effectively enhances obstacle avoidance efficiency. Finally, the effectiveness of the improved algorithm proposed in this paper was further verified by mobile robot experiments.

Due to the vulnerability and high risk of the ship environment, the Ship Information System (SIS) should provide 24 hours of uninterrupted protection against network attacks. Therefore, the corresponding intrusion detection mechanism is proposed for this situation. Based on the collaborative control structure of SIS, this paper proposes an anomaly detection pattern based on risk data analysis. An intrusion detection method based on the critical state is proposed, and the corresponding analysis algorithm is given. In the Industrial State Modeling Language (ISML), risk data are determined by all relevant data, even in different subsystems. In order to verify the attack recognition effect of the intrusion detection mechanism, this paper takes the course/roll collaborative control task as an example to carry out simulation verification of the effectiveness of the intrusion detection mechanism.
