Integrated Reporting (IR) is a relatively new concept that is considered one of the most recent trends in corporate reporting; it is still an emerging research area in different parts of the world. Malaysia is an appropriate emerging economy to investigate IR adoption. Large Malaysian public listed companies (PLCs) are encouraged by the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance (MCCG) of 2017 to adopt IR based on the international IR framework. By combining the stakeholder theory and the agency theory, this article proposes a conceptual framework to explore the moderating effect of sustainability reporting on the relationship between corporate governance mechanisms and IR disclosure level for the Malaysian PLCs. To obtain the data related to IR and the other variables, the study suggests using a content analysis method on the annual reports of the top 100 Malaysian PLCs based on their market capitalization. The proposed conceptual framework could be very useful; it can assist PLCs having sustainability practices to adopt the IR framework, reduce information asymmetries, increase information transparency, and create value. This study contributes to the literature by investigating the IR practices and their determinants in Malaysia after the introduction of MCCG 2017.

Purpose: Despite the growing emphasis on sustainability and the need to manage environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks, the direct relationship between enterprise risk management (ERM) and green growth (GG) has not been investigated. This study seeks to fill this gap by examining the effect of ERM on the GG of oil and gas (O&G) companies in Malaysia.Design/methodology/approach: The study used panel data regression models to analyze panel data from 2012 to 2021. For computing GG, we adapted the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) GG framework. ERM is computed using COSO and WBCSD guidelines for ESG-related risks. Weighted content analysis is used to measure ERM and GGFindings: The findings derived from the content and descriptive statistics analyses indicate a consistent and ongoing rise in the adoption of ERM practices over time. However, some companies are still in the initial stages of incorporating ERM to address ESG risks. The study’s findings unequivocally establish a substantial and positive relationship between ERM and GG. ERM drives GG by significantly influencing its environmental and resource productivity dimensions. The study further reveals that the impact of ERM on economic opportunities and policy responses, as well as the natural asset base, is statistically significant, albeit with relatively lower coefficient values.Practical implications: To enhance the legitimacy of organizations and foster positive stakeholder relationships, regulators, governments, and policymakers should actively promote the adoption of ERM standards that specifically address ESG risks, as outlined by COSO and WBCSD. This strategic alignment with risk management practices will ultimately contribute to improving green growth for organizations.Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study examining ERM’s effect on GG. The study adds to the existing literature by focusing on ERM’s role in a company’s GG. It clarifies ERM’s significant effect on diminishing emerging ESG risks and advancing GG

Limited research explores the private sector's role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly regarding factors influencing disclosure practices in emerging economies. This study addresses this gap by investigating the voluntary disclosure of SDGs and the impact of the sustainability committee (SC) on such disclosure in Malaysia. Panel data from large publicly listed Malaysian companies spanning from 2016 to 2020 is employed. Manual content analysis extracts the SDGs‐related information from the annual reports. Data were analyzed using univariate and multivariate analytical models to examine the effect of the sustainability committee's existence on the SDGs disclosure. Findings reveal an increasing trend in Malaysian companies' commitment to SDGs, with a stronger emphasis on social goals compared to environmental ones. The results of the T‐test, fixed effects, and two‐stage least squares regressions demonstrate significantly higher and more detailed SDG disclosure in companies with SCs compared to those without SCs. These findings suggest that SCs facilitate the integration of SDGs into corporate strategies and business models. Sensitivity analyses have not altered our findings. This research provides useful insights for policymakers and practitioners regarding corporate SDGs disclosure practices and the role of sustainability committees in enhancing such practices.

Purpose: This study aims to propose a conceptual framework to examine the impact of risk management implementation on green innovation in the Malaysian solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing industry. Design/methodology/approach: The study is based on primary data to be collected from 30 Malaysian solar PV manufacturing companies through a questionnaire that incorporates the five-point Likert scale. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) is proposed to be performed using SPSS 24.0 and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) is suggested to be conducted using AMOS.21 software to explore the factors and reliability of the items and to confirm the factorial structure of risk management implementation and green innovation. Furthermore, partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is proposed to investigate relationships between constructs and latent variables. Findings: The proposed framework is based on the stakeholder's theory and suggests that the comprehensive implementation of risk management has a significant and positive impact on green innovation in the Malaysian solar PV manufacturing industry. Practical implications: This study provides insight into formulating strategies for enhancing green innovation in the solar PV manufacturing sector and serves as a valuable resource for stakeholders. Originality/value: The significance of the proposed conceptual framework lies in its ability to enhance the workability of the stakeholder's theory and to create value for stakeholders through the implementation of risk management to drive green innovation. This study adds to the existing literature by exploring the relationship between risk management and green innovation in the solar PV manufacturing industry.
