Body temperature is an important indicator that may indicate the possibility of the existence of various pathological conditions and diseases. In the head and neck area, an infrared camera allows accurate temperature measurements of all regions of interest. The analysis of temperature characteristics of the region of interest of the head and neck in healthy subjects in terms of comparison of values in relation to the side of the face in the same person, and the comparison of values relative to the sex of the subjects is the topic of this research. These analyses are performed to create temperature maps of the face and determine physiological values. The research was conducted with the participation of 30 healthy people, 16 women and 14 men of different ages. Thermal imaging was performed in controlled conditions with infrared thermographic camera Varioscan 3021ST, while the software package IRBIS Professional 2.2 was used for thermogram analysis. Results show that the temperatures in female subjects at the submandibular region are significantly lower than in male subjects with an average temperature difference of 0.46?C, and the temperatures in female subjects at the supraorbital region are on average 0.5?C higher than in male subjects.

Background. Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma was described for the first time in 1983 by Isaacson and Wright. It was classified into extranodal non-Hodkin's lymphomas of B-cell lymphocytes of the marginal zone of reactive lymphe follicles. It is characterized by both hyperplasia and colonization of plasmocytic, centrocytoid and monocytoid cells, by the infiltration of interfollicular and parafollicular parts of interstitium, as well as by the invasion of clusters of neoplastic lymphoid cells of the glandular epithelium, forming the pathognomic lymphoepithelial MALT limphoma lesions. Case report. In this paper we presented the two female patients, 59 and 75 years of age, with MALT lymphomas, associated with Miculicz's and Sj?gren's syndromes. The paper also underlined rather manymonth- long, indolent clinical course, evalution of both tumors, massive in size, as well as two-sided localization in the case of the Miculicz's syndrome. After the subtotal parotidectomy, using conservation of nerve facialis, the tissue blocks were fixed in 10% formaldehyde. The paraffine sections were stained by routine histochemical and an immunohistochemical method by using monoclonal antibodies for both B-cell and T-cell lymphomas, due to the verification of lymphoepithelial lesions. The MALT lymphoma diagnosis was based on the histological criteria and confirmed by an immunohistochemical method. After the surgical therapy accompanied by chemotherapy, the patients were controlled at regular intervals, and residual MALT lymphoma did not appear. Conclusion. MALT lymphoma is a rare tumor of the salivary glands, with the most frequent localization in the parotide gland. It had a slow clinical course, without metastases in both patients. The diagnosis was made pathohistologically and confirmed immunohistochemically. The surgical therapy was accompained by adjuvant chemotherapy.

Introduction/Objective. Timely and accurate diagnosis is essential for successfully treating salivary gland tumors. This study aims to examine the possibility of an infrared thermal camera application in the parotid region pathology. Methods. In 36 patients with histopathologically confirmed tumors of the parotid region, the temperature of the area on the side of the tumor and the contralateral, healthy side was measured. The temperature difference was analyzed and compared with the control group. The measurement was performed using a high-resolution infrared thermographic camera. Statistical significance was tested using the T-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test. Results. The results showed that there is a highly significant difference in temperature between the tumor of the affected parotid regions and the contralateral, healthy side (all tumors: p = 0.001; malignant tumors: p = 0.007). Conclusion. We concluded that determining the temperature differences between the tumor-affected and contralateral, unaffected sides can be an important tool in diagnosing parotid region tumors.

Background and Objectives: Malignant tumors of the oral cavity are an important and growing component of the global cancer burden, with well-documented sex disparities in incidence. This study aimed to characterize temporal trends in the incidence of these tumors in the Republic of Serbia between 1999 and 2020, overall and by sex, and to forecast incidence through 2040. Materials and Methods: All histopathologically verified cases (ICD-10: C01–C06, excluding the lip) reported to the Cancer Registry of the Republic of Serbia (excluding the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, for which data are unavailable) were analyzed retrospectively. Age-standardized incidence rates (ASRs; world standard population) were calculated, and joinpoint regression estimated the annual percentage change (APC) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) models projected incidence to 2040, with sensitivity analyses for the 2016 extension of Registry coverage. Results: A total of 5695 cases were registered (3872 men, 1823 women). Restricted to the population under consistent Registry coverage (Central Serbia, 1999–2015), incidence did not change significantly in either sex (men: APC = −0.30%, 95% CI: −1.63, 1.06; women: APC = −3.31%, 95% CI: −7.41, 0.96). Over the full 1999–2020 series, which includes the 2016 extension of coverage to Vojvodina, incidence appeared to rise among men (APC = 1.71%; 95% CI: 0.47, 2.96; p = 0.009), with an apparent acceleration after 2013 (APC = 8.39%; p = 0.002); a level-shift model and a formal comparison of competing trend descriptions both attributed this apparent rise to the 2016 coverage change rather than to a genuine trend (+50.7%; p < 0.001). Male incidence was about twice that in women (mean ASR 3.63 versus 1.64). Under an unchanged-coverage scenario, ARIMA models projected a flat mean incidence through 2040 (2.6 per 100,000 overall; 4.7 in men, with a 95% prediction interval widening from 3.6–5.8 in 2021 to 1.2–8.2 in 2040), with a considerably less precise and less reliable forecast for women. Conclusions: Oral cavity cancer incidence in Central Serbia was stable from 1999 to 2015, with a persistent male excess. The apparent post-2013 rise is attributable to the 2016 extension of registry coverage rather than to a genuine trend, and a counterfactual estimate suggests considerably higher incidence in Vojvodina. Region-stratified reporting is needed before national trends can be interpreted reliably.
