In a society still in search for solutions for sustainable development, good governance has always been recognized to be a critical tool for advancing sustainable development and a crucial element to be incorporated in sustainable development strategies. In this context, through its strategic mechanisms, good governance contributes to engagement for long-term commitment and strategic objectives, to policy coherence through vertical and horizontal coordination, to an open, transparent process of involving and consulting stakeholders and to bringing sustainable development strategies closer to local communities, to people. In this context of analysis, we propose a research, using as methodology the thematic content analysis, on how good governance is reflected in EU countries sustainable development strategies. The research results point out that there are well-functioning strategic mechanisms in respect to the investigated issues, but more concern, involvement and interest are necessary to enhance vertical coordination mechanisms, to disseminate good practices about public consultation processes and to bring sustainable development strategies closer to lo people, in forms they can understand and use to change their behavior to a more sustainable one. The research may be particularly important for both researchers and policy makers and offers opportunities for future studies on the subject
The nexus of entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainable development is a subject of great interest nowadays, as society is looking for solutions leading to sustainable development. Given this context, the paper aims to put in connection sustainable entrepreneurship and sustainable development from both the perspectives of conceptual reflection in literature and a research on the European Union countries. The methodology is based on methods of analysis and synthesis, of interpretation and relevant comparisons. The research results point out that sustainable entrepreneurship, seen through the perspective of innovative SMEs, as considered in the research, is part of the support system for sustainable development, as entrepreneurial enterprises are increasingly recognized as a driving force for innovation and competitiveness, as one of the keys to achieving sustainable development. The research may be particularly important for both researchers and policy makers and offers opportunities for future studies on the subject
In contemporary society, which is preoccupied with sustainability issues, green marketing highlights a new dimension of the economic, social, and environmental responsibilities of businesses. This article aims to provide an integrative vision on green marketing roles in informing, raising awareness, educating, and changing consumer behaviour towards sustainability and ecopreneurship and to highlight the results of research regarding PlantBottle® green packaging’s impact on the environmental responsibility of young consumers. The research was conducted based on a survey, and data were processed with statistical methods. The research results validate a set of hypotheses regarding: Romanian consumers’ lack of information leading to environmental responsibility; the impact of environmental information and awareness on green responsible behaviour; and the need to intensify efforts towards environmental responsibility. By the novelty of the research, which was conducted in a country that has rather recently become preoccupied with sustainability issues, the paper fills in a gap in a relatively limited research area: countries where green culture is developing and can become a landmark with implications for managers, educators, and the scientific community.
In contemporary society, foreign direct investment has often been considered as a vital source for development and even for sustainable development, one of the major goals in the world we live today, found among the areas of preoccupation for researchers and policy makers. This is the generous context in which the paper aims to discuss the relevance of FDI for sustainable development, according to its reflection in literature and an empirical research on European Union countries. The methodology uses the analysis and synthesis, data interpretation as well as data comparison. The research results, considered within the limitations determined by the research methodology and the lack of a common understanding regarding environmentally-relevant FDI definition and way of measurement, point out the importance and relevance of green FDI in EU countries, with potential to generate rather positive effects, which ultimately, at country level, are conditioned by a balance between macro and micro factors. Due to the complexity of the subject, the research may offer opportunities for future studies
Sustainability in higher education has become a focal point of global discourse, reflecting the strategic role universities play in addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges. This study explores recent advancements in sustainable and green university practices through a comprehensive bibliometric and thematic analysis of Web of Science articles published between 2020 and 2024. While previous research often examines sustainability practices in isolation, a clear understanding of how digital technologies, institutional leadership, and stakeholder engagement interconnect to drive sustainability remains underdeveloped. This study addresses this gap by integrating bibliometric mapping with thematic analysis, providing a holistic view of the evolving landscape. Emerging themes include the role of digital technologies in enhancing operational efficiency and fostering inclusivity, as well as the increasing reliance on standardized metrics to measure progress. By bridging theoretical insights with actionable strategies, this research contributes to advancing sustainability in higher education, offering a roadmap for institutions to align their practices with global sustainability goals.
Dental tourism is a growing and emerging phenomenon that is becoming more attractive to patients due to its potential for decreased expenses, increased convenience, and immediacy of treatment. The necessity for travel is the primary motivation for seeking dental treatment due to the successful cooperation between tourism and healthcare. While dental tourism has been largely researched from the perspective of the patient, our research is the first research to apply a concomitant approach on dental clinics and tourism agencies. The aim of our study wasto provide comprehensive empirical evidence from the perspective of the dental clinics and tourism agencies in Romanian dental tourism. We used a representative sampling with an online questionnaire on 160 dental clinics and 32 tourism agencies. The results indicate that both entities have small amounts of information, but they are interested in investing, promoting, and creating a partnership to create a sustainable industry of dental tourism. Dental tourism could strongly contribute to the country’s image and help to prolong the seasonality of tourism activity by enhancing the strategic marketing of dental clinics and tourism agencies toward sustainable health tourism.
