Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the quality and readability of information provided by the websites of the Department of Pedodontics in the Dentistry Faculties of State Universities (SU) and Foundation Based Universities (FBU) in Turkey for pediatric patients. Method: All dentistry faculties in Turkey were identified through the Council of Higher Education database and classified as public and FBU. The websites of the faculties were accessed via the Google search engine, and the information pages of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry prepared for the patients were evaluated according to the Quality Criteria for Consumer Health Information (DISCERN), Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA), and Atesman Readability Formula. Results: No significant differences were observed among universities in terms of DISCERN scores (p>0.05), except in Section 1 (p=0.041). In Section 1, SU demonstrated higher DISCERN scores than FBU. None of the Faculties of Dentistry had an 'excellent' score. However, no significant differences were identified between universities in relation to Atesman scores (p>0.05), and no significant differences were found between universities on the JAMA benchmark scale (p>0.05). Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it was determined that the quality and readability of information on websites prepared by the Faculty of Dentistry in Turkey for parents of pediatric patients are low. It is recommended that information on university websites, which are official institutions that closely follow scientific developments and are preferred by parents of patients for information purposes, should be checked with appropriate evaluation tools in terms of quality and readability.

Synthesizing the etiologies, clinical indicators, and treatment alternatives of intraoral mucosal lesions occurring in the soft tissues of the oral cavity in the pediatric population and young adults, this scientific review details pathologies of developmental, neoplastic, infectious, traumatic, and inflammatory origin. Within the scope of the study, mucoceles triggered by mechanical traumas, eruption cysts appearing before tooth eruption, Epstein pearls, Bohn nodules, and dental lamina cysts observed in newborns, as well as congenital epulis, which is a rare benign tumor, are discussed with their structural and clinical dimensions. On the infectious side, primary herpetic gingivostomatitis caused by HSV-1 and oropharyngeal candidiasis tables developing due to immune insufficiency or antibiotic use are examined. Furthermore, differential diagnoses and current clinical management of ranulas related to salivary gland obstructions, vascular pyogenic granulomas reactive to local irritants, fibromas of chronic irritation origin, and recurrent oral herpes and herpes labialis lesions formed by the reactivation of latent HSV-1 infection are presented. Correct anamnesis and clinical examination play a critical role in managing these benign pathologies; treatment strategies include monitoring, symptomatic support, medical approaches, laser ablation, or surgical excision options depending on the specific type of the lesion.

Objective: To describe oral health status and its relationship with glycemic control in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) using standardized indices. Materials and Methods: A comparative cross-sectional study was conducted with 30 children aged 6-14 years with T1DM and 30 healthy controls. Oral examinations recorded DMFS/ dfs (Decayed, Missing, Filled Surfaces), PUFA/pufa (Pulpal involvement,Ulceration, Fistula, Abscess), Plaque Index (PI), Gingival Index (GI), and Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S). Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels were categorized as ≤7% or >7%. Non-parametric tests, Spearman’s correlation analyses were performed. The level of statistical significance was set at P < .05. Results: The T1DM group had significantly lower DMFS/dfs and PUFA/pufa scores than controls (P < .001 and P = .004, respectively), and no significant differences were found in PI, GI, and OHI-S values. In the T1DM group, correlation analyses between HbA1c levels and oral health indices (DMFS/dfs, PUFA/pufa, PI, GI, and OHI-S) revealed no statistically significant associations (P > .05). No statistically significant correlations were found between HbA1c and any of the oral health indices (P > .05). Conclusion: Children with T1DM showed lower caries experience, possibly due to regular medicalfollow-up, nutritional counseling, and improved oral hygiene. Routine oral health monitoringshould be integrated into pediatric diabetes care.
