Different CAD software programs used for designing crowns show variations in marginal and internal fit. Marginal and internal discrepancies may cause poorly fitting crowns. The aim of this study was to compare the marginal and internal fit of single crown temporary restorations designed using three different CAD software programs. Dentbird, Exocad and Inlab 20 were used to design temporary single crowns using the same cement gap. Three experimental groups (n = 10/group) were formed based on the CAD software used. Geomagic Control X three-dimensional analysis software was used to compare the marginal and internal fit among the groups. Measurements were obtained at nine different thickness points. IBM SPSS Statistics, version 22 was used for all statistical analyses. Among the CAD software programs tested, Dentbird produced the best internal fit on the buccal surface and the best marginal fit on both buccal and mesial surfaces. Exocad achieved the best values on the distal surface for both internal and marginal fit, while Inlab showed the best values on the mesial surface for internal fit and on the palatal surface for marginal fit. The Dentbird CAD software program provided the most accurate fit values that closely matched the design. The marginal and internal fit oftemporary crowns may vary depending on the CAD software used.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of five different beverages and polishing on the color change of two different temporary prosthetic materials manufactured with different methods. Method: 160 (10x2 mm) disc-shaped samples were fabricated using direct (Acrytemp)(n=80) and indirect (Imident) (n=80) temporary prosthetic materials. Samples prepared using molds were divided into four groups as polished (direct/indirect material) and unpolished (direct/indirect material) (n=40 each). After initial measurement of L,a,b values using a spectrophotometer, the samples in each group were immersed in five different beverages (distilled water (DW), coffee (CF), cola (CC), sour cherry juice (CJ), red wine (RW) (n=8) and stored for 7 days. Then, the spectrophotometric measurements of the samples were repeated and the color change (ΔE00) values were calculated. Data were analyzed using a three-way-ANOVA followed by post hoc Tukey HSD test (p=0.05). Results: Greater color change was observed in the direct temporary material (p
Dental implants are commonly used to restore the function and esthetics of missing teeth, and their long-term success depends on appropriate maintenance and follow-up interventions. One of the major clinical challenges is clinicians’ inability to identify the brand of a patient’s previously placed implants, which complicates the selection of compatible prosthetic components and instruments for subsequent treatments. This study aimed to develop a deep learning–based approach to identify dental implant brands automatically. A hybrid model based on Vision Transformer (ViT) architectures was proposed. To enhance efficiency, feature maps from three state-of-the-art ViT models were integrated and then classified with multiple classifiers. The proposed model achieved an accuracy of 87.92%, outperforming widely used benchmark methods in the literature. These findings demonstrate the proposed model's potential to help clinicians accurately identify implant brands, thereby facilitating appropriate prosthetic procedures and improving clinical workflow.

Resin-bonded fixed dental prostheses (RBFDPs) are a commonly used precision treatment, such as fixed dental prosthesis (FDP) and implant-supported dentures. Full crown preparation of vital teeth, which is required for traditional FDPs, may result in a risk of pulp reaction as a large portion of the coronal tooth structure must be removed. RBFDP has been recognized as a non-invasive or minimally invasive treatment modality for the replacement of single missing teeth. RBFDPs require much less tooth preparation than conventional FDPs. These dental treatments are restorative solutions used to cover missing teeth and achieve an aesthetic smile. The biomechanical rules, aesthetics, polishability, and bond strength have been emphasized in RBFDP treatments. Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is one of the most widely used biomaterials in dentistry. The material, which stands out especially with its acceptable aesthetics, biocompatibility and modulus of elasticity close to dentin, has enabled it to be used in RBFDP treatments. Since PEEK is lighter than metal alloys, patients experience less discomfort and a feeling closer to natural teeth. Furthermore, the thermoplastic properties of PEEK are claimed to provide a precise fit, allowing the restoration to better integrate into the natural tooth structure. In addition, its ability to be customized using different modern manufacturing techniques is thought to offer dentists and patients a reliable option for successful long-term treatment. Our review is about the use of PEEK material as an alternative material in RBFDPs with low negative effects on periodontal tissues and their bonding with resins.
