Joaquín Izquierdo, PhD in Mathematics and full professor of Applied Mathematics at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Educational career developed in the UPV, lecturing in algebra, calculus, differential equations, numerical methods applied to engineering, etc. Research activity as the Director of the research group FluIng (fluing.upv.es) within the Institute for Multidisciplinary Mathematics (IMM) devoted to mathematical modelling, knowledge-based systems and DSSs in Engineering (mainly Urban Hydraulics). Author and editor of several books, author or co-author of more than 300 research papers, book chapters and contributions to international events . Tutor of 13 Doctoral Dissertations and currently five on-going theses. Consulting in water resources in the context of Urban Hydraulics. Wide experience in continuous professional development for Spanish and Latin-American professionals. Author of commercial computer simulation packages. Organization of periodically international scientific events. Participation in R&D projects at various levels: local, regional, national, European, and international.
