For many years, surface has quality received a serious attention due to its influence on various mechanical properties. The main contribution made in this scientific paper is the performance of actual experiments, as well as the experimental processing obtained in order to develop a model for predicting the surface roughness based on the optimization of cutting parameters. The novelty of this paper is brought by the method of obtaining the regression equation of the surface roughness, resulted from a standard end-milling process (standard milling tools, standard milling parameters, recommended by the tool manufacturer, 3 axis CNC machine and standard vice), on aluminum alloy 7136 in temper T76511, through two statistical methods of data analysis. This material is used for the production of extruded parts and is poorly understood for the proposed line of research. This study’s aim is to determine the surface roughness equation obtained by the milling of aluminum alloy 7136 in two ways: using Taguchi′s experimental design once and the other, using the central composite design. The Taguchi method and the central composite design are used to develop an efficient mathematical model to predict the optimal level of certain processing parameters. Using ANOVA analysis, a comparative study of calculated and experimental surface roughness values is carried out. The initial characteristics (surface roughness) and the controlled factors (cutting speed, depth of cut and feed) are analyzed with the Minitab program. Finally, an analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods used is presented. This study has a great industrial application, since the main task of every manufacturer is to achieve a better quality of the final product with minimal processing time.

The paper addresses the problem of urban road noise, in the context of the European legislative requirements regarding noise pollution. The second noise mapping in Pitesti city, revealed that despite the proposed action plan after the first noise mapping, the noise pollution increased instead of decreasing. Considering that the proposed measures were insufficient to control road noise in the conditions of the estimated increase in road traffic, the authors developed complex research to identify how the road noise level is determined by the way of regulation of road traffic at intersections of the residential zone. Thus, noise and traffic measurements are made at the main road intersections in the central part of the city, determining the most relevant noise indicators for the specifics of urban traffic and residential areas. The results obtained lead to the conclusion that roundabouts bring a reduction in noise pollution compared to traffic light intersections only if the speed of vehicles in the roundabout is predictable: on preselected lanes and with speed timing.

In the metal cutting process, surface quality is intrinsically related to the cutting parameters and to the cutting tool geometry. At the same time, metal cutting processes are closely related to the machining costs. The purpose of this paper is to reduce manufacturing costs and processing time. A study was made, based on the mathematical modelling of the average of the absolute value deviation (Ra) resulting from the end milling process on 7136 aluminium alloy, depending on cutting process parameters. The novel element brought by this paper is the 7136 aluminium alloy type, chosen to conduct the experiments, which is a material developed and patented by Universal Alloy Corporation. This aluminium alloy is used in the aircraft industry to make parts from extruded profiles, and it has not been studied for the proposed research direction. Based on this research, a mathematical model of surface roughness Ra was established according to the cutting parameters studied in a set experimental field. A regression analysis was performed, which identified the quantitative relationships between cutting parameters and the surface roughness. Using the variance analysis ANOVA, the degree of confidence for the achieved results by the regression equation was determined, and the suitability of this equation at every point of the experimental field.

This scientific paper explores the increasingly widespread use of collaborative and industrial robots in the industrial environment, highlighting them as a solution to challenges related to the high costs of human labor and associated management difficulties. The authors focus on the process of defining requirements for the implementation of collaborative and industrial robots, providing strategies based on mathematical management models. This approach translates into significant benefits for companies, such as cost reduction, quality improvement, and increased operational efficiency. Additionally, the paper proposes an innovative mathematical model for assessing total costs, budgeting, profitability, and electric power consumption associated with the operation of collaborative and industrial robots. This model allows for a comparison between the costs involved in using human labor and those associated with collaborative and industrial robots, providing critical information for technological investment decisions. The efficiency of this mathematical model is demonstrated through a practical application, where collaborative robots were integrated into a production environment and costs and efficiency were evaluated compared to the use of human labor and industrial robots. This scientific paper provides a systematic and efficient approach to implementing collaborative robots in industrial processes, benefiting from strategies based on mathematical management models and an original mathematical model for evaluating performance and associated costs.

The purpose of this research is to characterize and evaluate the corrosion behavior of zinc coatings used for corrosion protection, with a special focus on the S235 steel material. The introduction highlights the need for corrosion protection in industrial settings, as well as the importance of understanding corrosion processes and the development of corrosion products to develop more effective solutions. The study’s goals are to undertake an extensive analysis of corrosion products formed on the zinc coating’s surface, to evaluate the performance of these coatings under atmospheric circumstances, and to investigate the effect of deposition parameters on coating quality. The essential message provided to readers is the critical significance of knowing corrosion product formation mechanisms and zinc coating corrosion behavior in developing long-lasting and effective protection measures. The study methodology includes cycle testing, morphological and chemical examination of corrosion products, as well as optical and electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. Corrosion resistance is assessed using accurate measurements. The results show that zinc coatings have exceptional corrosion resistance under air settings, with the produced corrosion products offering further protection to the underlying material. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that the surface roughness of S235 steel has a substantial impact on the quality and corrosion behavior of hot-dip galvanized coatings. The findings emphasize the necessity of detailed characterization of corrosion products, the effect of depositional factors on zinc coating performance, and the need for novel corrosion protection methods. These discoveries have significant implications for the corrosion protection sector, providing the potential to improve the longevity and efficiency of protective systems used in industrial applications.
