Soft robotics is closely related to embodied intelligence in the joint exploration of the means to achieve more natural and effective robotic behaviors via physical forms and intelligent interactions. Embodied intelligence emphasizes that intelligence is affected by the synergy of the brain, body, and environment, focusing on the interaction between agents and the environment. Under this framework, the design and control strategies of soft robotics depend on their physical forms and material properties, as well as algorithms and data processing, which enable them to interact with the environment in a natural and adaptable manner. At present, embodied intelligence has comprehensively integrated related research results on the evolution, learning, perception, decision making in the field of intelligent algorithms, as well as on the behaviors and controls in the field of robotics. From this perspective, the relevant branches of the embodied intelligence in the context of soft robotics were studied, covering the computation of embodied morphology; the evolution of embodied AI; and the perception, control, and decision making of soft robotics. Moreover, on this basis, important research progress was summarized, and related scientific problems were discussed. This study can provide a reference for the research of embodied intelligence in the context of soft robotics.

In order to increase the compatibility between underwater robots and the underwater environment and inspired by the coconut octopus’s underwater bipedal walking, a method was proposed for bipedal walking for an underwater soft robot based on a spring-loaded inverted pendulum (SLIP) model. Using the characteristics of octopus tentacles rolling on the ground, a wrist arm was designed using the cable-driven method, and an underwater SLIP bipedal walking model was established, which makes an underwater soft robot more suitable for moving on uneven ground. An underwater bipedal walking soft robot based on coconut octopus was then designed, and a machine vision algorithm was used to extract the motion information for analysis. Experimental analysis shows that the underwater bipedal walking robot can achieve an average speed of 6.48 cm s−1, and the maximum instantaneous speed can reach 8.14 cm s−1.

The paper explores new approach for the real-time identification of harmonic composition of the distorted signals (voltages and currents) of autonomous electric power systems with inconsistent frequency, phase and amplitude, and which can be greatly distorted. The identification of target non-stationary harmonics is made by adjustment of the parameters of the relevant function-prototype. The proposed method of tracking the parameters of any harmonic of the distorted signal makes possible to provide unique, stable and convergent solution of the non-linear dynamic system. The obtained algorithm provides the unique asymptotic trajectory, being periodical and lying in the vicinity of the approximated function – target harmonic of the signal. This method may be successfully applied in design of the multivariable systems for identification of external parameters in the water transport and in other autonomous electric power systems. The test of the developed system is performed in the medium Matlab and the algorithm's practical implementation by FPGA sources is proposed

Economic efficient Autonomous Road Vehicles (ARVs) are invariably subjected to uncertainties and perturbations. Therefore, control of vehicle systems requires stability to withstand the effect of variations in the nominal performance. Lateral path-tracking is a substantial task of ARVs, especially in critical maneuvering and cornering with variable speed. In this study, a new controller on the basis of interval type-3 (T3) fuzzy logic system (FLSs) is designed. The main novelties and advantages are as follows. (1) The uncertainty is a main challenge in the path-following problem of ARVs. However, in the fuzzy-based approaches, the bounds of uncertainty are assumed to be known. However, in the our suggested approach, the bounds of uncertainties are also fuzzy sets and type-3 FLSs with online adaptation rules are suggested to handle the uncertainties. (2) The approximation errors (AEs) and perturbations are investigated and tackled by the compensators. (3) The bounds of estimation errors are also uncertain and are estimated by the suggested adaptation laws. (4) The stability is ensured under unknown dynamics, perturbations and critical maneuvers. (5) Comparison with the benchmarking techniques and conventional fuzzy approaches verifies that the suggested path-following scheme results in better maneuver performance.

In this study, the synchronization problem of chaotic systems using integral-type sliding mode control for a category of hyper-chaotic systems is considered. The proposed control method can be used for an extensive range of identical/non-identical master-slave structures. Then, an integral-type dynamic sliding mode control scheme is planned to synchronize the hyper-chaotic systems. Using the Lyapunov stability theorem, the recommended control procedure guarantees that the master-slave hyper-chaotic systems are synchronized in the existence of uncertainty as quickly as possible. Next, in order to prove the new proposed controller, the master-slave synchronization goal is addressed by using a new six-dimensional hyper-chaotic system. It is exposed that the synchronization errors are completely compensated for by the new control scheme which has a better response compared to a similar controller. The analog electronic circuit of the new hyper-chaotic system using MultiSIM is provided. Finally, all simulation results are provided using MATLAB/Simulink software to confirm the success of the planned control method.

One of the most essential tasks for a number of systems of the automatic controls in the autonomous electric power systems of the water transport is accurate calculation of variable harmonic components in the non-sinusoidal signal. In the autonomous electric power systems operating with full semiconductor capacity, the forms of line currents and voltages are greatly distorted, and generator devices generate voltage with inconsistent frequency, phase and amplitude. It makes calculation of harmonic composition of the distorted signals be a non-trivial task. The present paper provides a mathematical set for solution of the outlined problem including the realization in the discrete form. The simplicity and efficiency of the system proposed make possible to perform its practical realization with the help of cheap FPGA. The test of the developed system has been performed in the medium Matlab
