Markus Pillmayer is Professor of Destination Management and Destination Development at the Department of Tourism of Munich University of Applied Sciences (since 2019). Previously Professor of International Destination Management at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (2017-2019). Doctorate at the Chair of Cultural Geography at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt as part of an international DFG project (2013). Studied geography, sociology and psychology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (1998-2004). Awarded the Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship for excellent entrepreneurship teaching (2021). Main research interests: internationalisation, tourism geography, tourism policy, entrepreneurship in tourism, health and medical tourism.
