Peter Giannoudis is a professor (School of Medicine, University of Leeds), an honorary consultant at the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and the head of the trauma department and the clinical trials at LGI Hospital. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a fellow of Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow. In 2000, he was awarded the M.D. degree by the University of Leeds. He has two trauma fellowships (the University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA, and Hannover Medical School, Hanover, Germany). He is president of the European Society of Tissue Regeneration in orthopaedics and traumatology (2018 onwards) and editor in chief of the Injury journal (2010 onwards). His interest is focused on the immune-inflammatory response following accidental and surgical trauma, the biology of mesenchymal stem cells, bone regeneration, bioengineering and clinical outcomes following fracture fixation.
