Principal Researcher, Head of Metabolic Engineering and Systems Biology Laboratory (MESBL), FORTH/ICE-HT, Patras, Greece. She obtained a Chemical Engineering Diploma from NTU Athens (1995), her Ph.D. in Metabolic Engineering from Chem Engineering Dept, MIT, USA, minoring in the optimization of biological networks (2001) and carried out post-doctoral research at MIT and the J. Craig Venter Institute, USA in eukaryotic genomics and integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses. Her research focuses on (a) metabolic network activity analysis through the development and application of methodologies for metabolomics and metabolic flux analysis, (b) quantitative systems biology and integrated multi-omic studies, and (c) mathematical modelling of metabolic and protein interaction networks. Her group has significantly contributed to the standardization of experimental and computational protocols of untargeted GC-MS metabolomics in various biological contexts. She is Technical Coordinator of the National Bioinformatics Infrastructure ELIXIR-GR and coordinates the participation of Greece in the ELIXIR-EU Metabolomics Community and Systems Biology Focus Group. She is an Editorial Board Member in Current Opinion in Biotechnology Journal and BMC Microbial Cell Factories and Associate Editor in Frontiers in Microbiology focus Systems Microbiology. She has co-authored >70 publications, has given >50 invited lectures/seminars, and has been chair/co-chair/IPC member in >25 conferences.
