Helena Moreira completed her PhD in Sports Science (1999) at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal. She has held the position of Assistant Professor at UTAD since 2003, with a specialization in Habilitation in Sports Science—Exercise and Health since 2014. She is member of the Research Center in Sports Sciences, Health Sciences and Human Development and the Centre for the Research and Technology of Agro-Environment and Biological Sciences. She led two INTERREG– POCTEP projects: “UNI+i - Transboundary Cooperation Northern of Portugal and “FLUMEN DURIUS—Promotion and valorization of the tourist resources of Douro River”, having produced several publications in international peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. She is a member of the UNESCO Chair on Geoparks, Sustainable Regional Development and Healthy Lifestyles. Her research interests are focused on the assessment of physical fitness and exercise prescription, particular in postmenopausal women, and on the potential role of the natural environment in human health and well-being.
