Herein, we demonstrate for the first time the impact of Mn on PbS and CdS using a simple successive ion layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) technique on TiO2. The CdS passivation layer over PbS can reduce the recombination of photo-injected electrons with the electrolyte and enhance the overall performance and stability of quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs). The doping of Mn has a drastic impact on the host material (PbS/CdS) and can create new energy states that can delay the exciton recombination time and can allow charge separation. The surface roughness and morphology of the PbS/Mn-CdS nanoparticles can be observed from atomic force microscopy images. The performance of the QDSSCs was examined in detail using a polysulfide electrolyte with a copper sulfide (CuS) counter electrode. Under illumination of one sun (AM 1.5 G, 100 mW cm−2), the TiO2/PbS/Mn-CdS QDSSCs exhibits a power conversion efficiency (η) of 3.55%.
High-power plasma power supply is very useful for many industrial and medical applications. Plasma is generated artificially in the laboratory or industry by applying the electric or magnetic field. In this manuscript, we presented the simple 4T analog MOS control high voltage high frequency inverter circuit as a plasma power supply using modulation index technique. The presented plasma power supply operated at 25 kHz frequency and 10 kV peak to peak voltage. It generates a 0 V to 10 kV controllable electric field. The generated electric field is applied and produces plasma, which can be used for many industrial applications. A 10 kV to 5 kW plasma power supply has been practically developed based on the proposed topology and experimentally tested and, additionally, excellent output power conversion efficiency is achieved. From these results, the 4T analog MOS control high voltage high frequency (HVHF) plasma switching power supply is verified.
This paper presents an electrode with a core/shell geometry and a unique four-layered porous wrinkled surface for pseudocapacitive supercapacitor applications. To design the electrode, Ni foam was used as a substrate, where the harmonious features of four constituents, ZnO (Z), NiS (N), PEDOT:PSS (P), and MnO2 (M) improved the supercapacitor electrochemical performance by mitigating the drawbacks of each other component. Cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge discharge measurements confirmed that the ZNPM hybrid electrode exhibited excellent capacitive properties in 2 M KOH compared to the ZNP, ZN, and solely Z electrodes. The ZNPM electrode showed superior electrochemical capacitive performance and improved electrical conductivity with a high specific capacitance of 2072.52 F g−1 at 5 mA, and a high energy density of 31 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 107 W kg−1. Overall, ZNPM is a promising combination electrode material that can be used in supercapacitors and other electrochemical energy conversion/storage devices.
With the advent of new technologies and an alarming increase in the world’s population, there has been a rapid increase in energy consumption. Consequently, this has resulted in a surge in developing sources that generate electricity and concurrently escalating global warming levels. Owing to their contributions in vast applications, dependence on renewable energy is a reliable option. However, it is known that a complete and efficient utilization of the incoming solar radiation is not feasible, taking into account the various losses associated. Our proposal addresses concerns resulting in the efficient utilization of solar energy based on optimal cost analysis by the mathematical procedure. This methodology when used along with a battery-based photovoltaic (PV) system effectively reduces the amount of electricity imported from the grid. The implementation of this method scales down the monthly electricity consumption by 67.1%. Our findings were established considering South Korea’s residential electricity tariff system. Our system works based on a principle where the batteries are charged with solar PV during off-peak hours and discharged during peak hours. The state of charge of the battery could be monitored using a web server. In situations, wherein the load demand cannot be sustained by the batteries, grid power can be utilized during peak hours. The sequence of these events can be implemented by a series of algorithms. Our proposed system also helps in achieving the goal-7 of the sustainable development goals (SDG) prescribed by the United Nations (UN), which is to boost the consumption of renewable energy which ultimately results in monetary savings to a large extent.
