In this paper, the MHD flow of a micropolar nanofluid on an exponential sheet in an Extended-Darcy-Forchheimer porous medium have been considered. Buongiorno’s model is considered in order to formulate a mathematical model with different boundary conditions. The governing partial differential equations (PDEs) of the nanofluid flow are changed into a third order non-linear quasi-ordinary differential equation (ODE), using the pseudo-similarity variable. The resultant ODEs of the boundary value problems (BVPs) are renewed into initial value problems (IVPs) using a shooting method, and then the IVPs are solved by a fourth order Runge-Kutta (RK) method. The effects of various physical parameters on the profiles of velocity, temperature, microrotation velocity, concentration, skin friction, couple stress coefficients, heat, and concentration transfer are demonstrated graphically. The results reveal that triple solutions appear when S ≥ 2.0337 for K = 0.1 and S ≥ 2.7148 for K = 0.2 . A stability analysis has been performed to show the stability of the solutions; only the first solution is stable and physically possible, whereas the remaining two solutions are not stable.

Nanofluids are a novel class of heat transfer fluid that plays a vital role in industries. In mathematical investigations, these fluids are modeled in terms of traditional integer-order partial differential equations (PDEs). It is recognized that traditional PDEs cannot decode the complex behavior of physical flow parameters and memory effects. Therefore, this article intends to study the mixed convection heat transfer in nanofluid over an inclined vertical plate via fractional derivatives approach. The problem in hand is modeled in connection with Atangana–Baleanu fractional derivatives without singular and local kernel with a strong memory. Human blood is considered as base fluid and carbon nanotube (CNTs) (single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)) are dispersed into it to form blood-CNTs nanofluid. The nanofluid is considered to flow in a saturated porous medium under the influence of an applied magnetic field. The exact analytical expressions for velocity and temperature profiles are acquired using the Laplace transform technique and plotted in various graphs. The empirical results indicate that the memory effect decreases with increasing fractional parameters in the case of both temperature and velocity profiles. Moreover, the temperature profile is higher for blood SWCNTs because of higher thermal conductivity whereas this trend is found opposite in the case of velocity profile due to densities difference.

It is necessary to sustain energy from an external reservoir or employ advanced technologies to enhance oil recovery. A greater volume of oil may be recovered by employing nanofluid flooding. In this study, we investigated oil extraction in a two-phase incompressible fluid in a two-dimensional rectangular porous homogenous area filled with oil and having no capillary pressure. The governing equations that were derived from Darcy’s law and the mass conservation law were solved using the finite element method. Compared to earlier research, a more efficient numerical model is proposed here. The proposed model allows for the cost-effective study of heating-based inlet fluid in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and uses the empirical correlations of the nanofluid thermophysical properties on the relative permeability equations of the nanofluid and oil, so it is more accurate than other models to determine the higher recovery factor of one nanoparticle compared to other nanoparticles. Next, the effect of nanoparticle volume fraction on flooding was evaluated. EOR via nanofluid flooding processes and the effect of the intake temperatures (300 and 350 K) were also simulated by comparing three nanoparticles: SiO2, Al2O3, and CuO. The results show that adding nanoparticles (<5 v%) to a base fluid enhanced the oil recovery by more than 20%. Increasing the inlet temperature enhanced the oil recovery due to changes in viscosity and density of oil. Increasing the relative permeability of nanofluid while simultaneously reducing the relative permeability of oil due to the presence of nanoparticles was the primary reason for EOR.

In the present era, nanofluids are one of the most important and hot issue for scientists, physicists, and mathematicians. Nanofluids have many important and updated characteristics compared to conventional fluids. The thermal conductivity, thermal expansion, and the heat transfer rate of conventional fluids are not up to the mark for industrial and experimental uses. To overcome these deficiencies, nanoparticles have been dispersed into base fluids to make them more efficient. The heat transfer characteristics through symmetry trapezoidal-corrugated channels can be enhanced using nanofluids. In the present article, a literature survey has been presented for different models of nanofluids and their solutions—particularly, exact solutions. The models for hybrid nanofluids were also mentioned in the present study. Furthermore, some important and most used models for the viscosity, density, coefficient of thermal expansion, coefficient of mass expansion, heat capacitance, electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity are also presented in tabular form. Moreover, some future suggestions are also provided in this article.

Nowadays, oil companies employ nanofluid flooding to increase oil production from oil reservoirs. Herein the present work, a multiphase flow in porous media was used to simulate oil extraction from a three-dimensional porous medium filled with oil. Interestingly, the finite element method was used to solve the nonlinear partial differential equations of continuity, energy, Darcy’s law, and the transport of nanoparticles (NPs). The proposed model used nanofluids (NFs) empirical formulas for density and viscosity on NF and oil relative permeabilities and NP transport equations. The NPs thermophysical properties have been investigated and compared with their oil recovery factor (ORF) to determine the highest ORF. Different NPs (SiO2, CuO, and Al2O3) were used as the first parameter, keeping all parameters constant. The simulation was run three times for the injected fluid using the various NPs to compare the effects on enhanced oil recovery. The second parameter, volume fraction (VF), has been modeled six times (0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5%), with all other parameters held constant. The third parameter, the injected NF inlet temperature (293.15–403.15 K), was simulated assuming that all other parameters are kept constant. The energy equation was applied to choose the inlet temperature that fits the optimum NP and VF to determine the highest ORF. Findings indicated that SiO2 shows the best ORF compared to the other NPs. Remarkably, SiO2 has the lowest density and highest thermal capacity. The optimum VF of SiO2 was 4%, increasing the ORF but reduced when the VF was higher than 4%. The ORF was improved when the viscosity and density of the oil decreased by increasing the injected inlet temperature. Furthermore, the results indicated that the highest ORF of 37% was obtained at 353.15 K when SiO2 was used at a VF of 4%. At the same time, the lowest recovery is obtained when a volume of 5% was used at 403.15 K.

Modern optical fiber required a double-layer resin coating on the glass fiber to provide protection from signal attenuation and mechanical damage. The most important plastics resin used in coating of fiber optics are plasticized polyvinyle (PVC), low/high density polyethylene (LDPE/HDPE), nylon, and polysulfone. Polymer flow during optical fiber coating in a pressure type coating die has been simulated under non-isothermal conditions. The flow dependent on the wire or fiber velocity, geometry of the die, and the viscosity of the polymer. The wet-on-wet coating process is an efficient process for two-layer coating on the fiber optics. In the present study, the constitutive equation of polymer flow satisfies viscoelastic Phan-Thien-Tanner (PTT) fluid, is used to characterize rheology of the polymer melt. Based on the assumption of the fully developed incompressible and laminar flow, the viscoelastic fluid model of two-immiscible resins-layers modeled for simplified-geometry of capillary-annulus where the glass fiber drawing inside the die at high speed. The equation describing the flow of the polymer melt inside the die was solved, analytically and numerically, by the Runge-Kutta method. The effect of physical characteristics in the problem has been discussed in detail through graphs by assigning numerical values for several parameters of interest. It is observed that velocity increases with increasing values of ε D 1 2 , ε D 2 2 , X 1 , and X 2 . The volume flow rate increases with an increasing Deborah number. The thickness of coated fiber optic increases with increasing ε D 1 2 , ε D 2 2 , and δ . Increase in Brinkman number and Deborah number enhances the rate of heat transfer. It is our first attempt to model PTT fluid as a coating material for double-layer optical fiber coating using the wet-on-wet coating process. At the end, the present study is also compared with the published work as a particular case, and good agreement is found.
