Ignacio Carvajal-Mariscal was born in
Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1968. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in
mechanical engineering from Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI), Moscow,
Russian Federation, in 1996, and a Ph.D. degree in thermal engineering at the
same institution in 1999. Since 2000, he is a full professor at the National
Polytechnic Institute (IPN), Mexico City, Mexico. In 2008-2009, he was an
invited professor at the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Department, University
of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada. He co-authored the book “Handbook for
Transversely Finned Tube Heat Exchanger Design” (Academic Press, 2016). He is
the author of 70 articles and holds one patent. His research interests include enhanced heat
transfer, heat pipes, shallow geothermal energy, experimental fluid dynamics,
evaporation cooling, and heat pumps. Dr. Carvajal-Mariscal
has been an ASME member since 2008.
