The accurate calculation of mining-induced surface deformation has important guiding significance for efficient and safe production in mining areas. The probability integral method (PIM) is a main prediction method in China, and the selection of its parameters is directly related to the prediction accuracy of surface deformation in mining areas. To overcome shortcomings of PIM and other methods, this paper proposed a prediction model of the parameters of PIM combining a multiple regression model and an extreme learning machine. In this paper, the Huainan mining area was selected as the research object, the influence factors of PIM parameters were analyzed and the accuracy of the model was verified. The influence of the number of hidden layer nodes, the selection of activation function and the proportion of training set and test set in the model were analyzed. The conclusions suggest that the PIM parameters calculated in this paper could be used to predict mining subsidence and obtain surface movement and deformation data. The research results provide an effective method for the selection of surface deformation prediction parameters of new working faces or faces lacking measured data.

The movement and deformation of rock strata and the ground surface is a dynamic deformation process that occurs as underground mining progresses. Therefore, the dynamic prediction of three-dimensional surface deformation caused by underground mining is of great significance for assessing potential geological disasters. Synthetic aperture radar interferometry (InSAR) has been introduced into the field of mine deformation monitoring as a new mapping technology, but it is affected by many factors, and it cannot monitor the surface deformation value over the entire mining period, making it impossible to accurately predict the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the surface. To overcome this limitation, we propose a new dynamic prediction method (InSAR-DIB) based on a combination of InSAR and an improved Boltzmann (IB) function model. Theoretically, the InSAR-DIB model can use information on small dynamic deformation during mining to obtain surface prediction parameters and further realize a dynamic prediction of the surface. The method was applied to the 1613 (1) working face in the Huainan mining area. The results showed that the estimated mean error of the predicted surface deformation during mining was between 80.2 and 112.5 mm, and the estimated accuracy met the requirements for mining subsidence monitoring. The relevant research results are of great significance, and they support expanding the application of InSAR in mining areas with large deformation gradients.

Underground coal mines are widely distributed across China, and underground mining is highly concealed. The rapid and accurate identification of the spatial distribution of coal mining subsidence over large areas is of significant importance for the reuse of land resources in mining areas and the detection of illegal mining activities. The traditional method of monitoring subsidence basins has limitations in terms of monitoring range and timeliness. The development of synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) technology has provided a valuable tool for monitoring mining subsidence areas. However, this method faces challenges in quickly and effectively monitoring subsidence basins using wide-swath SAR images. With the rapid development of deep learning and computer vision technologies, leveraging advanced deep learning models in combination with InSAR technology has become a crucial research direction to enhance the monitoring efficiency of surface subsidence in mining areas. Therefore, this paper proposes a new method for the rapid identification of mining subsidence basins in mining areas, which integrates Deformable Detection Transformer (Deformable DETR) and InSAR technology. First, the real deformation sample set of the mining area, obtained through interference processing, is combined with simulated deformation samples generated using the dynamic probability integral method, elastic transformation, and various noise synthesis techniques to construct a mixed InSAR sample set. This mixed sample set is then used to train the Deformable DETR model and compared with common deep learning methods. The experimental results show that the monitoring accuracy is significantly improved, with the model achieving a Precision of 0.926, Recall of 0.886, F1-score of 0.905, and mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) of 0.828. The detection model was applied to monitor the dynamically updated mining subsidence in the Huainan mining area from 2023 to 2024, detecting 402 subsidence basins. Further training demonstrates that the model exhibits strong robustness. Therefore, this method reduces the construction cost of the target detection training set and holds significant application potential for monitoring geological disasters in large-scale mining areas.

Surface subsidence induced by coal mining poses severe threats to global ecosystems and infrastructure. A critical challenge in subsidence prediction lies in the sensitivity of existing probabilistic integral parameter inversion methods to gross errors, leading to unstable predictions and compromised reliability. To address this limitation, we propose the IGGIII-BFGS algorithm that integrates robust estimation with unconstrained optimization method, enhancing resistance to gross errors during parameter inversion. Through systematic comparison of four robust estimation methods (Huber, L1, Geman–McClure, IGGIII) fused with BFGS, the IGGIII-BFGS method demonstrated superior stability and accuracy, reducing relative errors in key parameters (subsidence factor q, horizontal displacement coefficient b, and tangent of major influence angle tan β) to near-zero levels. Validation on the Huainan mining case study showed that the IGGIII-BFGS method achieved a 25.8% reduction in subsidence RMSE compared to standard BFGS, with predicted curves exhibiting strong agreement with field measurements. This advancement enables precise forecasting of subsidence and horizontal displacement, which hold significant value for the sustainable development of the surface ecological environment and social stability.

In the field of water process engineering, accurately predicting the total nitrogen (TN) concentration distribution in the Semi-Enclosed Bay area is of great importance for water quality assessment, pollution control, and scientific management. Due to the coupling of multiple influencing factors, the pollution process is complex, and traditional monitoring methods struggle to achieve large-scale, long-term real-time observation. Although numerical simulations can reproduce TN transport processes, they are computationally expensive and have low prediction efficiency. To address this, this study develops a deep learning hybrid model that integrates a Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN) and a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network, referred to as the TCN-LSTM-Hybrid Model, to predict the spatiotemporal distribution of TN concentration fields in Shenzhen Bay. Comparative experiments show that this model outperforms traditional models such as TCN, LSTM, GRU, and MLP in terms of prediction accuracy and spatial generalization, offering higher computational efficiency and breaking through the limitations of “point-based prediction” by achieving “field-based prediction,” thereby providing a new path for pollutant simulation in complex ocean environments, supporting more informed decision making in ocean and coastal management.
