Pluvial floods are rare and dangerous disasters that have a small duration but a destructive impact in most countries. In recent years, the deep learning model has played a significant role in operational flood management areas such as flood forecasting and flood warnings. This paper employed a deep learning-based model to predict the water level flood phenomenon of a river in Taiwan. We combine the advantages of the CNN model and the GRU model and connect the output of the CNN model to the input of the GRU model, called Conv-GRU neural network, and our experiments showed that the Conv-GRU neural network could extract complex features of the river water level. We compared the predictions of several neural network architectures commonly used today. The experimental results indicated that the Conv-GRU model outperformed the other state-of-the-art approaches. We used the Conv-GRU model for anomaly/fault detection in a time series using open data. The efficacy of this approach was demonstrated on 27 river water level station datasets. Data from Typhoon Soudelor in 2015 were investigated by our model using the anomaly detection method. The experimental results showed our proposed method could detect abnormal water levels effectively.

This study successfully synthesized fluorinated silicon-containing waterborne polyurethanes (FSWPUs) by using polycaprolactone (PCL) diol, 2,2,3,3-Tetrafluoro-1,4-butanediol, and [3-(2-Aminoethylamino)propyl] trimethoxysilane (AEAPTES ). The FSWPU’s particle size was examined using dynamic light scattering. After the FSWPUs were processed into a dry film, their molecular weight and basic properties were analyzed using gel permeation chromatography (GPC), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Additionally, the thermal stability of the FSWPUs was inspected by thermogravimetric analysis and dynamic mechanical analysis. The tensile strength and elongation at the break of the FSWPUs before and after hydrolysis were also analyzed, using a tensile testing machine. Subsequently, FSWPU emulsions were cast between the tiles, and hydrophilicity, hydrophobicity, and surface tension were then measured on a contact-angle measurement instrument. The tensile testing machine was again employed to test the sheer strength of the FSWPUs between the tiles, and a tape test was conducted to analyze their adhesion to the tiles. The results revealed that AEAPTES functional groups can reinforce the thermal stability, tensile strength, and water resistance of FSWPUs. Moreover, the AEAPTES functional groups increased the adhesion of FSWPUs to the tiles and reduced the surface energy of the tiles.

The online banking service is the key element for the development of e-commerce and e-businesses. It provides users with convenient daily transaction services, such as wire transfer and online payment. Past studies on online banking services mostly focused on their functionality, whereas little pay attention to users’ hedonic feelings or a sense of pleasure. Besides, discussions about post-adoption behavior are also immature. Thus, this study aims to explore the impacts of customers' positive or negative experience of using online banking services on consumers' emotions. Furthermore, a discussion of post-adoption behaviors, including recommendations, complaints, and continuance intention is also provided. The result shows that positive user experience will have a significantly positive impact on the generation of utilitarian emotion. As for the sense of utilitarian emotion, users concern more about whether their goal could be achieved successfully via their operations or not, such as completing wire transfer transactions in the online banking environment.

The use of e-textbooks has become popular in certain countries, yet there is debate in the literature about whether it is advantageous to adopt e-textbooks and if they positively influence students’ learning and performance. Prior studies on the acceptance of e-textbooks were mainly based on one theoretical perspective, and did not differentiate samples between experienced and inexperienced users. From a social- and task-related view, this study aims to identify the critical factors that stimulate acceptance intentions of e-textbooks among tertiary students, particularly between experienced and inexperienced users. Based on 912 questionnaires, this study found that performance expectancy, perceived enjoyment, and perceived task-technology fit are the factors affecting students’ behavioral intention for acceptance in both sampling groups. However, social impact only has significant influence on acceptance intention of inexperienced users. Also, gender has a moderating effect on the relationship of performance expectancy and behavioral intention of inexperienced users only. This study provides useful implications for marketing e-textbooks, and fills the literature gap.

According to Taiwan’s Ministry of the Interior, from 2017 to 2019, more than 12% of house-purchase disputes were due to water leakage caused by frequent tropical rains, which have long troubled engineers. The thermal stability resistance, water resistance, and ultraviolet resistance of existing polyurethane formulations have been limited by environmental aging. Thus, the lifespan of commercial PU-coated resins (typical PU) for the waterproofing of roof surfaces is merely two to three years. Accordingly, this study proposed the introduction of siloxane and imide groups to produce waterborne poly(urethane-siloxane-imide) (Si-imide-WPU) copolymers to improve the resistance of environmental aging in typical PU. The waterproof coating resin made of Si-imide-WPU copolymers was environmentally friendly, safe to use, and free of organic solvents. The results showed that the optimal Si-imide-WPU-2 sample in the study made improvements on the defects of polyurethane (PU) including its thermal properties, mechanical properties, environmental resistance, and lifespan which could be extended up to 5.4 years. Consequently, the studied Si-imide-WPU copolymers could reduce material waste while enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of the architecture.
