The automotive industry is one of the most important industries in Europe. This industry is responsible for 14% of total production and capital investment in the European manufacturing sector. The following rise of driverless vehicles is going to have a major impact on businesses and professionals. Automated vehicles could replace corporate fleets for deliveries or transporting employees, for example. And workers could gain productive hours in the day by working instead of driving during daily commutes. Innovations in this field are also poised to completely change the car insurance industry by reducing accidents - a new report predicts that accidents will drop by 80% by 2040. The interconnection and synchronization of radar and ultrasonic sensors and optical cameras allow completely autonomous driving. This article deals with the description of autonomous cars, specifically their classification, technology, components, working, potential advantages and obstacles.

Currently, there are quite a lot of incorrect procedures and mistakes that occur in the forensic area, which lacks analytical approaches toward solving the causes of accidents using s–t diagrams (distance–time diagrams) combined with the software simulation applications. When analyzing accidents, the correct information is of key importance. The aim of this article is to define a new specific technical and analytical approach toward handling expert’s reports on traffic accidents in road transport at intersections, with respect to the traffic lights. A simulation program application is used as a progressive means of accident evaluation. This procedure must become a standard in the methods of modern traffic accident analysis. The application of this methodology with simulation tools for accident reconstruction enables one to perform a very precise analysis of traffic accidents. Mutual space and time relationships of vehicles’ movements have been evaluated here, depending upon the intersection signal plan. To demonstrate the methodology, a real case is used here, reconstructed by means of the complex analytical simulation software PC-Crash. A procedure processed by these means can be beneficial for forensic traffic accident analysis.

This contribution deals with the braking process of the specified motorcycle with ABS system. The purpose of the measurement was to determine the braking performance of the motorcycle under the selected operating conditions, considering the riders' skills. It was necessary to perform the practical measurements of motorcycle braking characteristics on the dry road surface. To provide the most accurate results the measurements were performed on one selected motorcycle. We concentrated mainly on the specification of the full braking deceleration under individual operating conditions. The measuring device XL Meter™ Pro was used to perform the measurement. The collected data were processed in the programme XL Vision and evaluated by SW PC-Crash. The results of the performed measurements and their evaluation and comparison are presented in the final part of this contribution. The obtained results and data can be further processed in forensic engineering.

The article deals with issues of vehicle braking from different points of view. We made repeated braking tests of modern vehicles during intensive braking on various asphalt surfaces with the goal to evaluate character of this random variable. We dedicated our attention also to the accuracy attainable using various measuring methods and equipment. Within measurement of braking deceleration we used low-end measuring device (mobile smartphone) and measuring devices most used in Slovakia (XL Meter™ Pro Gamma). The collected data were processed in the software XL Vision and evaluated by SW PC-Crash 10.9. Usable result from article is mainly measurement set of braking deceleration of current modern vehicles during intensive braking on various asphalt surfaces as well as evaluation of accuracy levels with respect to various used devices.

This contribution deals with issues of braking the passenger car. The measurement of braking deceleration of the vehicle Kia Cee´d 1,6 16 V was carried out by an optical device Correvit system. The measurement was carried out on the airport of the village of Rosina located close to Zilina. 10 drivers of different age, praxis, and kilometers driven participated in the measurement. The measured process was the vehicle full braking with the service brake of the initial speed of approximately 50 km.h-1. Each of the drivers had 10 attempts. In the closure of this contribution the results of the performed measurements, their evaluation and comparison are presented. Practical result from the contribution is mainly the measurement set of braking deceleration of the respective vehicle during intensive braking.

The aim of the article is the introduction of the video system GEM CDU 2605 Zeus and the traffic flow analysis of the selected section, and specifically to show the extra value of the device. The respective video system is located close to the Zilina city centre (northern Slovakia). Based on the evaluated statistical data obtained from the video system it is possible to design the traffic precautions in the specific section, or to install the required technical equipment for traffic moderation. The use of these systems can increase the traffic safety and fluency including the traffic calming, traffic accidents number decrease, engine exhaust emissions decrease and an increase of the living standard in the towns and villages. Results of analysis and its evaluation and comparison are presented in the final part of this paper.
