Cloud Computing (CC) is a promising technology due to its pervasive features, such as online storage, high scalability, and seamless accessibility, in that it plays an important role in reduction of the capital cost and workforce, which attracts organizations to conduct their businesses and financial activities over the cloud. Even though CC is a great innovation in the aspect of computing with ease of access, it also has some drawbacks. With the increase of cloud usage, security issues are proportional to the increase. To address these, there has been much work done in this domain, whereas research work considering the growing constrained applications provided by the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart city networks are still lacking. In this survey, we provide a comprehensive security analysis of CC-enabled IoT and present state-of-the-art in the research area. Finally, future research work and possible areas of implementation and consideration are given to discuss open issues.
Conventional RSA algorithm, being a basis for several proposed cryptosystems, has remarkable security laps with respect to confidentiality and integrity over the internet which can be compromised by state-of-the-art attacks, especially, for different types of data generation, transmission, and analysis by IoT applications. This security threat hindrance is considered to be a hard problem to solve on classical computers. However, bringing quantum mechanics into account, the concept no longer holds true. So, this calls out for the modification of the conventional pre-quantum RSA algorithm into a secure post-quantum cryptographic-based RSA technique. In this research, we propose a post-quantum lattice-based RSA (LBRSA) for IoT applications in order to secure the shared data and information. The proposed work is validated by implementing it in 60-dimensions. The key size is about 1.152 × 105-bits and generation time is 0.8 hours. Furthermore, it has been tested with AVISPA, which confirms security in the presence of an intruder. Moreover, the proposed LB-RSA technique is compared with the existing state-of-the-art techniques. The empirical results advocate that the proposed lattice-based variant is not only safe but beats counterparts in terms of secured data sharing.
Nowadays, there is a growing trend in smart cities. Therefore, the Internet of Things (IoT) enabled Underwater and Wireless Sensor Networks (I-UWSN) are mostly used for monitoring and exploring the environment with the help of smart technology, such as smart cities. The acoustic medium is used in underwater communication and radio frequency is mostly used for wireless sensor networks to make communication more reliable. Therefore, some challenging tasks still exist in I-UWSN, i.e., selection of multiple nodes’ reliable paths towards the sink nodes; and efficient topology of the network. In this research, the novel routing protocol, namely Time Based Reliable Link (TBRL), for dynamic topology is proposed to support smart city. TBRL works in three phases. In the first phase, it discovers the topology of each node in network area using a topology discovery algorithm. In the second phase, the reliability of each established link has been determined while using two nodes reliable model for a smart environment. This reliability model reduces the chances of horizontal and higher depth level communication between nodes and selects next reliable forwarders. In the third phase, all paths are examined and the most reliable path is selected to send data packets. TBRL is simulated with the help of a network simulator tool (NS-2 AquaSim). The TBRL is compared with other well known routing protocols, i.e., Depth Based Routing (DBR) and Reliable Energy-efficient Routing Protocol (R-ERR), to check the performance in terms of end to end delay, packet delivery ratio, and energy consumption of a network. Furthermore, the reliability of TBRL is compared with 2H-ACK and 3H-RM. The simulation results proved that TBRL performs approximately 15% better as compared to DBR and 10% better as compared to R-ERR in terms of aforementioned performance metrics.
Nowadays, there is a growing trend in smart cities. Therefore, Terrestrial and Internet of Things (IoT) enabled Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (TWSNs and IoT-UWSNs) are mostly used for observing and communicating via smart technologies. For the sake of collecting the desired information from the underwater environment, multiple acoustic sensors are deployed with limited resources, such as memory, battery, processing power, transmission range, etc. The replacement of resources for a particular node is not feasible due to the harsh underwater environment. Thus, the resources held by the node needs to be used efficiently to improve the lifetime of a network. In this paper, to support smart city vision, a terrestrial based “Away Cluster Head with Adaptive Clustering Habit” (ACH) is examined in the specified three dimensional (3-D) region inside the water. Three different cases are considered, which are: single sink at the water surface, multiple sinks at water surface,, and sinks at both water surface and inside water. “Underwater (ACH) ” (U-(ACH) ) is evaluated in each case. We have used depth in our proposed U-(ACH) to examine the performance of (ACH) in the ocean environment. Moreover, a comparative analysis is performed with state of the art routing protocols, including: Depth-based Routing (DBR) and Energy Efficient Depth-based Routing (EEDBR) protocol. Among all of the scenarios followed by case 1 and case 3, the number of packets sent and received at sink node are maximum using DEEC-(ACH) protocol. The packets drop ratio using TEEN-(ACH) protocol is less when compared to other algorithms in all scenarios. Whereas, for dead nodes DEEC-(ACH) , LEACH-(ACH) , and SEP-(ACH) protocols’ performance is different for every considered scenario. The simulation results shows that the proposed protocols outperform the existing ones.
In recent few years, flying ad hoc networks are utilized more for interconnectivity. In the topological scenario of FANETs, IoT nodes are available on ground where UAVs collect information. Due to high mobility patterns of UAVs cause disruption where intruders easily deploy cyberattacks like DoS/DDoS. Flying ad hoc networks use to have UAVs, satellite, and base station in the physical structure. IoT-based UAV networks are having many applications which include agriculture, rescue operations, tracking, and surveillance. However, DoS/DDoS attacks disturb the behaviour of entire FANET which lead to unbalance energy, end-to-end delay, and packet loss. This research study is focused about the detail study of machine learning-based IDS. Also, cognitive lightweight-LR approach is modeled using UNSW-NB 15 dataset. IoT-based UAV network is introduced using machine learning to detect possible security attacks. The queuing and data traffic model is utilized to implement DT, RF, XGBoost, AdaBoost, Bagging and logistic regression in the environment of IoT-based UAV network. Logistic regression is the proposed approach which is used to estimate statistical possibility. Overall, experimentation is based on binomial distribution. There exists linear association approach in logistic regression. In comparison with other techniques, logistic regression behaviour is lightweight and low cost. The simulation results presents logistic regression better results in contrast with other techniques. Also, high accuracy is balanced well in optimal way.
