Carolina Bermudo Gamboa is an Associate Professor in Manufacturing Processes Engineering at the University of Malaga. Her research focuses on additive manufacturing of polymers, with emphasis on structural integrity and performance. She studies rotating bending fatigue of additively manufactured polymers, linking process settings, infill architecture, shell thickness, and as built geometry to stress estimation and fatigue life. She develops experimental protocols and analytical plus data driven models to reduce testing effort and improve design allowables. In parallel, she investigates laser surface texturing and machining to create functional surfaces that tune tribology, wetting, and adhesion, and examines how textures interact with machining conditions such as dry cutting. Her work relies on surface metrology, force measurements, and statistical and machine learning tools to connect manufacturing routes to surface integrity and component reliability. Interests include hybrid process chains combining additive manufacturing, laser texturing, and finishing operations for scalable industrial applications.
